Well, I finally made it to the strip. First time since last July. So I finally got my ride into the 15's. EBP 2000 Civic Si
I would rather auto-x than drag, but all-in-all, i was happy.
NOTE: I lost my 2nd run slip, but I ran a 16.7 because the jackass didn't give me enough time to set.

Best reac time was the 4th run. My overall personal best was the last run.
Found my two problems.
1. Didn't want to tear up my re730's on prior trips. So i borrowed a set of 96 GS-R rims with the stock Michile XGT V4's. Didn't care about them.
2. Reaction times. I finally got below the 1sec mark. I need to work on my reac times, and my 60ft times.

Not too shabby.
BTW, how do you like the Potenza's? I was thinking about getting a set for my next tire.

IMO..
Good - Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 (make sure you get Z or W rated!!)
Better - Potenza RE730 (great treadware rating!)
Best - Potenza S-03
My review from another site from 4/5/01
NOTE: the S-03 and the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD and the Falken Azenis were not around when i did my research and purchase.
When searching for a replacement tires, I found a few tires that were 205/50R15 (Stock Si 195/55R15). The one I chose were the RE730's. $87 http://www.tirerack.com Sure there are other tires in that size, but none of them equal the performance of these tires. These tires will last over 30,000 with proper rotation. Z-rated as well!!
These tires have a nice drift characteristic that is very controlable at mid to high speeds. I did notice a little lost of response during very low speed turns. That could be because of the slightly wider tire than stock. The slightly shorter tire wall adds about 1 to 2 percent more torque to the ground. The slightly wider tire will decrease your stopping distance a bit as well (remember, tires stop cars, not the brakes). The RE730's have a very, very stiff side wall that is designed to keep you on the road during a blow at at 120+ mph (got to experience first hand in a Mustang with these tires).
I highly recommend this tire for anyone looking for 205/50R15 z-rated tires
Yeah. There are sticker tires out there but I want something with good treadwear as well so I think Potenzas are where it's at. Thanks

Reaction times have NO EFFECT on you ET's.
I can (and have) wait 4 seconds and still run a 13 second ET.
I hate spotting Cav's 300 ft!
Now if you bracket race, RT's will make/break your chance of winning.
Better have a .550 or better RT if you even think about having a chance.

it would depend where hes at, and also not all si's run 14.9's all of the si's on the track i go to run mid 15's and 16's, best was done by a friend with only a ghetto pvc pipe intake and he hit a 14.9 and i guess if you use the nhra sea level adjuster hes down to a 14.7
JV, a Top Fuel drag car could sit at the lights for 10 seconds and still record a 4 second pass like normal. And what Bone means in bracket racing is that its still the first to finish and you have to be dead on in reaction time because you could still hit your dial in et and the other guy could be slower than his dial in but still win because his reaction time was a lot better. Go go run on sentence. Summary, reaction time has no bearing on your et

are these pretty basic times for an Si? I ran 16 flat all day at Pomona with an EX and only intake, headers and exhaust. ( in 105 degree heat)
I'm not trying to bad mouth your times or anything, I was just wondering.

i'm being totally serious now, reaction time aka cutting a good light will have zero bearing on whether you have a good ET. getting a good 60' time is important, but your reaction time has zero influence on ET

well that scares me.
I have yet to run the 1/4. but my civic is running avg. 10.5 in the 1/8. BEST at a 10.3.
but the si's don't seem to much faster.
I would rather autox than drag too!

i am definately better at autoxing....I need to work on my drag racing skills.

I guess I'm the only one that thinks those times are awefull for a moded SI

but this was probably his first time....knowing how to drive and race at the dragstrip is key for good times. Trust me I have seen many a people pull up to the line and have no idea what they are doing....some don't even understand the staging lights
