Default 90 CRX Idling weird

My 90 crx hf just started idling weird

It bounces between 1000 and 1025 rpm just goes up and down
then stops for a while and hangs at 1000 rpm
It seemed to start when I put in a new thermostat

im not sure what droppedcrxsi was saying, but ide go with making sure your coolant is filled up, squeese the upper radiator hose if is somewhat stiff(as in there is fluid in it) your good, what did you remove when you did the thermostat? if it is not the coolant maybe you bumped something?

I get it on bleeding the coolant but you didn't say how

I figured it out I'm trying to do a flush before I refill
To flush
The Haynes manual says the engine should be completely cool and I will need to drain the engine block too. Doesn't really tell me where the engine block drain plug (for coolant )really is.

The coolant bottle says (to flush) I should just turn on the engine, turn on the heater and run water in the top while it drains out the bottom of the radiator for about ten minutes.

So I have two questions

Which is the best way to flush the way the coolant bottle says or the way Haynes says ?
Where is the drain plug for coolant in the engine block? 90 CRX HF

Thanks

I might be wrong, but i dont think there IS a drain on the block(ive never noticed one at least). try turning on heater(so coolant goes to the heater in the car) and open the drain valve on bottom of radiator(its usualy a white thing that looks like a buterfly unscrew it PARTIALY) just take it out a lil and flush it....... till the liquid coming out turns clear(ide just use water personaly... but maybe something else works better?)

Myabe thatl will help ya out, good luck man :D

eh i wouldnt run OUT of coolant... i was saying just let it drain slowly so that way you can always fill it faster than it drains. the engine pulls water from bottom of radiator, and pushes it back in through the top. if you were to drain too quikly engine wouldnt be able to get any fluid. just take your time, ide imagine 5-10 mins would work. i HAVE driven withought coolant for a few mins(dont try it it sucks... overheat to hell) didnt seem to damage much though(my coolant line busted free)

make sure ur throttle cable isn't too tight. could account for high idle and fluctuation due to tps enrichment.
