Could be either. You can get them from Japan, or they can be made from a front clip, if the work is good, there will be no way to tell since the VIN tags and stamp would be swapped in the process.

Why wouldnt you just check the vin number. Theres no such thing as a USDM EG6, making it easy to tell just by the numbers on the vin. I think all USDM civics those years were EH and EJ's (only EG being the del sol) The answer lies in the vin number either way.

Theres like 20 different spots on your car to find the vin number. including your doors.

Yea, you'd have to compare the door jam to the firewall.
A real good clip job and you won't be able to tell from anything like welds or what not, as they will be blended and painted.

1. look for 2 interior dome lights
2. is the "oh ****" bar on the left or the right? it should be on the left
3. is the radio antena on the left or right? it should be on the right. (usually on conversions they leave the antena on the left
)
4. u cant go by the vins because it might be vin swapped
5. check the sun visors. the right one should have lots of japanese writing on them and the left one should be blank or have a mirror.

You think if they went through the trouble to cut and weld the door VIN they aren't going to do those? If it is a chassis cut, they could easily have used the RHD parts that high on the A pillar. Sunvisors? Takes about 30 seconds to change. Good list, but not fool proof.

Is the car registered? Then look up the VIN# and the the origin of the vehicle.
Also, if it is indeed an EG"<U>6</U>", then you rear portion would have to be built for the JDM rear 4-seater interior. By looking underneath the interior, you can easilly tell.
