Got my license and 600rr on the same day
So i've been wanting to get a bike since I was 18 (6 years ago). Now I finally have one. I took the MSF class 2 weeks ago at a local community college. It was pretty easy. The only thing I couldn't do was make the damn figure 8 without going 1 foot outside the box. I ended up passing the class first out of 10 riders. I got the completion certificate in the mail last Thursday, which was a pleasant surprise since I wasn't expecting it for another 2 weeks. The instructors said it would take 3 weeks to get it. In my uncontrollable excitement, I went to the DMV to get my M endorsement. The clerk was pretty interested in getting a motorcycle too so I chatted it up with him about the MSF class. I had to take another test (on motorcycle laws, which I passed) and then I got my license.
On the way home, I decided to stop by the dealer to check out some bikes. I've been researching the hell out of bikes for the last month, and I either wanted a triumph daytona 600, yamaha r6 or a honda 600rr. The Triumph felt really big and bulky but the price was right at $7300 OTD for a new 2004. The yamaha and honda were around $9000 OTD. But anyways, I ended up taking home a silver/black 600rr that same day. I put around 60 miles on it the first day, and now I'm at 140 miles after my third ride. It is sweet. I also got a red arai hayden replica, dainese tt2 boots, frank thomas air rage gloves, and I'm waiting on my a* tz-1 jacket. I'm trying not to ride until the jacket comes in, but it's too hard!

don't ride without gear, accidents are just that...accidents. you never know when you will go down and it could be entirely somebody elses fault.
careful with your bike, it's a touchy bike and has a lot of power. if the tires are new too, scrub them before you go ***** out.

Yeah I can't wait for my jacket to come in. Riding without it makes me feel like a squid. I'm wearing boots, leg protectors, gloves, and a helmet but no jacket!
The throttle is pretty touchy. I'm learning how to become smoother. All in all, it's a great bike as everyone says.

Wow, Uncle MoneyBags!
I wish I could secure that kind of loot. Congrats on your new purchase, you've got an awesome kit put together, there.
Just do like everybody says, take it really easy.
I'll offer my advice, even though it wasn't solicited.
I read somewhere that the majority of performance motorcycle related accidents occur with "new" riders. Not guys with 2 or 3 months, more like guys with 5 months or so. If you're like me, it'll be really easy to keep under control for the first month or two - it's scary! After I started getting used to the power thoughts started creeping into my head about putting a knee down, and so forth.
THAT'S when you've got to watch yourself. It'll feel comfortable, you know the basics, but be careful, it's when you're most likely to get hurt. I've had to go back a couple times and say to myself "you're not that good." Go slow, there's some good books mentioned in a recent thread (sorry, I'm a wee bit lazy to find it), and seek advice from riders much, much more seasoned than yourself.
It's like Loris Capirossi says "Mom, she say to me 'go slow, Loris, go slow' but in my sport more faster is better."
