2000 Civic Dx stock noise
Thank you in advance for your help.
I have a stock 2000 Civic Dx and it makes clicking noises when I accelerate with the gas pedal near or above a 1/4 way down in 4th or 5th gear. Although it only becomes apparent and noticeable in 4th or 5th gear, it can be heard in the other gears when I'm giving it a little more than half throttle - basically when I'm "trying" to drive aggressively, which is impossible on a stock dx.
I do not notice a clicking/ticking noise when idling; the noise is also absent when accelerating slowly, meaning pushing down on the gas pedal a 1/4 or so of the way.
It's really annoying because when I'm on the freeway I can't push down on the gas pedal more than a 1/4, or even less; otherwise, the clicking noise becomes very apparent, becoming louder and more rapid as I give it more gas.
I've had a valve adjustment done recently, among other "major" services required for maintenance. The car has about 85k miles on it. I don't know what the problem can be.
If anyone can shed some light, it would be much appreciated. Otherwise, I guess it's back to the dealership for me.
Thank you.

sounds like it would be valve tap. is normal but might want to have valve clearence rechecked but dont see it being a problem if it was just done recently
