Default New and need advice!

Hello. I have an 89 Honda Civic hatch, and i have the need for speed . I've seen some pretty nasty civics out there and i was just wondering what i should do first with my "somewhat stock" DX engine (atleast i think its a DX). If someone knows where i can get a turbo for my hatch and or can give me advice on where to start i would appreciate it. Here are some pictures... BTW bro-in-law made that wicked intake :-o

multi point fuel injection conversion, along with an si ecu and tranny aught to be a good start. Or you can throw a zc in there.

http://www.4gcivic.net for guides on doing the ZC or the mpfi swap. Well, to do the ZC swap you have to do the mpfi. And if you want to do any turbo you have to do the mpfi....

So I would start with the mpfi :-)

Thats another thing. I have no clue :-\. This friend of mines friend (who sold me the engine) told me it was a b15, but apparently B15's dont exsist, so i was told. Also what i was told was this motor was imported from Japan, from a stock hatch, and is supposed to be a very good engine. He also put a little work in it himself supposedly added bigger pistons.

The type of motor it is, is a mystery really. :-(

Thnx for that link btw^^^

so this motor isn't the one currently in your car? from what you said, it sounds like it's the JDM d15b (sohc vtec) motor. if the motor you're talking about is the one in the pictures, then you've got a regular DX motor (1.5L non-VTEC DPFI).

the d15 is as stock as it gets. Down to the dual point carb. fuel injection. Even as a stock motor its still got some peep to it. I wouldn't look into turboing that motor, or you will be searching for a new one soon after. I would suggest a zc swap. I have done a couple and they are easy. Hardest part is the wiring but that takes no time. Everything is bolt up. Even the DOHC zc drops in and gives a nice bet of power and aggressive look. And ZC engines are good for boosting with their low Compression. Right now running two civics, one with a DOHC ZC turboed running 7-8 psi and one running a SOHC zc non-turboed. Both motors run great and are great upgrades from the stock motor. Good luck with your honda, and post when you make up your mind

ummmm im almost 99% sure it does NOT have 140 lbs of torque...i think more like 113 lbs...with 140lbs of torque you can rape any B off the line...

lol.

i know this seems to be jokes, but crx dx's have like no torque, less than 100.

and, by looking at the exhaust manifold, that car appears to be an std. the only differences between the dx and std engine are the computer, camshaft, some pieces in the intake, and the exhaust.

however, the std has tiny axles, tiny front brakes, and a 4 speed tranny.

I would get a bigger engine, and do a mpfi swap. The wiring is easy with a rywire.com harness, and the how to can be found at my site http://www.droppedcrxsi.com
