cloudy headlights?
i had a conversation today about plastic headlights turning yellow, or cloudy.
i had a kia sephia where this situation happened. i've seen some ek's with this situation as well. i currently own a eg w/JDM headlights (which are plastic).
can this still happened to me. if so how do i prevent it, or how can i clear it up when it does.
if this has happened to you give me some advise.
thanks

Halo, please explain what happened? i was actually thinking about this option to get rid of some of the haze on my headlights, but after your post i may reconsider...
Well I actually started backwards with 2000 grit (only grit I used)...I basically put the entire headlight in a 5 gallon bucket of luke warm water and VERY LIGHTLY wet sanded the surface, again very light strokes with 2K grit..Then I applied several coats of Meguires PlastiX..anyway it came out HORRIBLE! Swirls and scratches everywhere..I don't suggest doing this on plastic
i did this with my oem 96-98 headlamps, 1500 grit wetsand, 2000 grit wetsand, rinse, meguars (sp) plasitc polish in the white bottle, and it came out blingin. maybe the 800 is too much for the plastic. just use the 1500 then the 2000 and you'll be fine
ninja edit : dont scrub in a circle like ur washing dishes, go straight along the lines of the headlamp

warm water isnt a good idea because it will warm up the plastic enough to make the sanding go a lil deeper than it should, if you have real bad sanding marks best bet is to just start all over and sand thoes lines out...sand with the vertical lines already on the headlights...did it to my lights about a week ago and came out awesome
I can tell you right now that I BARELY sanded the surface very very gentle and it's not like 2k grit was rough..so I have no idea why mine came out so wack
