S2000 CLUTCH JOB....WHATS INVOLVED????
Hey phellas, I might be doing a side job for someone who needs a clutch installed in a s2k....Is there anything goofy to look out for???He called the honda dealer and they told him 925 for just labor alone!!! I thoght that was kind of high!!! Any suggestions would be helpful....Oh, yeah this will be done at home not on a lift...thanks
if this is a side job and you haven't done it before, don't. this is the ONE thing that I paid someone else to do - a very reputable shop. it ran just under 500 for the install + rear main seal while he was in there. dealer wanted 685. I supplied the parts.
basically, you'll want a lift, and you'll also want air tools. you'll need to drop the front cross member, along with the engine, down about four inches. if you don't have a lift nor air tools, it isn't worth it IMO.

I don't think you're gonna want to do this one on the ground.

i do not suggest you doing this as a side job. at a minimum have a helms for the S. i'd ask some shops who have done work on a S before and see what they charge.

I've helped replace one. As long as you have the car up pretty high on stands and have a helper(s), though more involved, it isn't that much worse in difficulty than a fwd honda clutch job. Just be prepared for awkward bolts to get to. I'd set aside a full weekend if it's your first time.

i think it just comes to the fact that you get a recipt from letting a shop do it vs. doing it yourself...if something happens they will fix it cause you paid for it...no one want's cluctch rattle or any order side effect from not having it installed right...
im not knocking your mechanical skills, because i would like to learn how do this, but for now i have to pay people and watch...

Thanks for all the help, I have no doubt that I can do it, just the question is if it really is worth it when it comes down to it...I still cant believe the dealer told him 900+ parts!!!
