Default Omnipower/D2/KONI + GC

Well guys, I'm kind of tired of seeing all the mixed reviews for the following products - Omnipower coilovers, D2, and KONI Yellows with Ground control coilovers. For the record, I'd like some people to give some PROS and CONS of the product, ONLY if they have the product, know someone directly who has it or have previously used this product. I'd like the votes to be based on street use. Personally I'm going towards omnipower, since my intended use will be for street. Let the replys roll

What mixed reviews have you heard of the GC/Koni combo? That has been a tried and true favorite for years, and it's obvious why--with names like Eibach and Koni--this will be my setup.

The GC and Koni setup is proven. It's a good setup, but for they money I always recommend a fully adjustable coilover.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with omnipower, you cannot beat the price and it's sure as hell better than stock. Sorry for not elaborating, I've heard that KONI/GC cannot be beat however it's too much for my blood and I don't think I utilize for what it's meant for. D2 and omnipower have been bitched about forever

For $815 or below what would you suggest that is better then GC/Koni?

There are several group buys in the sponsor section for Yellow under $500 shipped. There are also GCs on eBay for $250 or less (brand new). They retail for $300, so even then you are looking at $500 shipped plus $300 plus shipping. You should not pay $1000 for GC/Koni.

I have not seen any GC for $250 while I was looking to buy them a few weeks back.

Yah, but were going to get new dyno's this week hopefully. Actually I should say in a few weeks cause we gotta send them out today. Were goin to send them out to get tested just for the heck of it. The dyno that was used previously isn't all that hi-tech. Were going to get these tested on a Roehrig. It really hasn't stopped our sales, but atleast we have them for those who ask for it. 90 percent of the people that do order don't even know how to read a shock dyno correctly. Most people are just looking for a good reliable setup.

How about this - Someone give me a site or two where I can get KONI's for $500 and Ground Controls for $300, then I will buy them.

I think that the choice would depend on what kind of driving you intend to do. Are you wanting to have a comfortable/smooth ride or are you road/auto-x racing? Will you be ordering custom spring rates from GC or going with the default rates?

If you are going to be using the default 330/250 GC (if I remember correctly) spring rates there would be no comparison with the Omnipower 450/560 springs (I swapped mine around.)

I was running AGX with Spax springs (same as GC default rates) until yesterday and then I installed the Omnipower street kit. They made my crappy tires better, I can take on/off ramps, yields and almost any street corner as fast as I dare go and the car handles perfectly neutral.

With the Spax springs I would understeer most of the time unless I tweaked tire pressures and prayed to the cornering gods. Actually, I had my car dialed in until I got these 16" rims and Hankook tires last week. I ran the AGX at full stiff in the back but I know the Konis are much better.

The Omnipowers will NOT be comfortable if you have rough streets. We have absolutely CRAPPY roads where I live and I am happy I have chiropractic coverage at work because I am going to be taking advantage of that. The car is not at all bouncy but is VERY stiff. I enjoy it, but only because I am all about the twisties

It all depends on how you plan to drive. Do you want comfortable but handles well or do you not care about comfort and only about handling? The advantage of the Koni/GC combo is how easy it is to swap spring rates and be able to damp them.

The Omnipowers are obviously not adjustable but they are tuned for the spring rates from the factory. I would not recommend them for someone who drives their mother around on a regular basis but if you want to corner like a champ then

the roads are decent at times, but some back roads can tend to be crappy...i terms of smoothness id give the roads around here a 5 1/2

LOL, #1 I didn't even bother looking for these products. Because there's no way in hell I will be able to get GC coilovers and KONI Yellows for $800 unless it was involved in an insane group buy. And I have an 01 Accord for the record, so get your facts straight .

I went with the Neuspeed/Koni Yellow and GCs. Can't go wrong with a lifetime warranty on both items. Service from both is OUTSTANDING!!

As a side note, what about Koni Specials with GCs?! Since you're only driving on the street (don't know how low you're going), this setup could be something that could work for you. Maybe CRXLee will chime in, but the Specials are cheaper and still adjustable. Since you're street driving, you'll probably set it once and forget it. I'm just not sure what kind of spring rates or what kind of drop the Specials can handle.

I've got my g/f set up with Koni Specials and a ProKit. Smooth like butta!

Latez,

Paul

I basically don't want to spend more than $800-850 with shipping included, I want to the ability to drop around 2.50 in the front and 2.25 in the back, ill be making my decision by this saturday about what I'm going to do
