finally a real racer (not ricer)
Got my NASA provisional on Sat. @ Sears Point. My friend got his last month @ Laguna. (We could only test one per Saturday per event.) We raced the enduro today. It was suppose to be a 3 hour race. There were fog delays (track closure) in the morning. It ended up being about 2 hours & 15 min. We finished 3rd in class (E2) & 10th overall. I am really not sure how many E2 cars there were. I do know that we started 15th on the grid. We at least passed 5 other cars. (to be honest, there wasn't a very big turn out) I also got punted/spun off trackby a E30 BMW who was racing in E1 (supposedly a faster class). I caught it & lapped it before my stint was over. We had a great couple of guys help us with fuel, etc. (If you read this, I can't thank you enough!) Anyway, it was a kick in the a@@ although I still have a lot to learn! I highly recommend it. Oh yeah, anyone close to Tracy got a bumper cover to sell me?
We qualified with a totally lame 1:41. It put us 15th on grid. I was running high 1:36's to low 1:37. My co-driver was more consistant & faster. He pulled a low of 1:35.16. He was in the low :36's most of the time. This is on the short course being used because of the construction. The difference between the racing & Group 4 is huge! BTW, the kart track up there looks really cool. They have the first layer of pavement down. I think that they are suppose to have it up & running sometime in March.
