How much weight you guys think I can take off by stripping the back sits and stuff from the back of my 98 EK hb?

 

not that much

 

just have your ek go on the "engine compartment diet"

 

If you plan on selling the car one day it's probably not enough to be worth it. If not, go ahead and remove them, then you'll start removing other stuff, and then more. Eventually you'll get to the point where the weight you've removed actually does something.

 

the 1000s of a second you will save by ripping out your back seats isn't worth squat

 

Or just don't ride with FAT chicks!

 

strip all your interior. hit that sound deadening tar with a hammer and rip all that **** out. remove your dash and get rid of that firewall mat and more tar (put the dash back). remove ac and power steering and any other BS options. thats close to 200 lbs.

there's lots of little **** you can hack off. it all adds up. every milligram counts

 

someone told me once that for every 100lbs you take off you "gain" 15hp. But i dunno. youd have to take a lot out of a hatchie to make a diff. they already rule at weight.

 

You cant gain HP from that you just shave time

Thats really a broad statement.. he was probably just making a point. A 1000hp motor won't care very much about 100 pounds being dropped, but with an 85hp motor, the difference will probably be enough to actually feel when accelerating.

 

With my backseats, spare tire including jack, the rear floor matts, and the front passenger seat taken out, i wieghed everything and it came to a total of 99 pounds. It is more wieght savings then you think, but do i honestly feel a difference in performace... not really.

 

It not worth the sound

 

my 97 hb hybrid weighs 2230...thats with everything from the driver/pass seat back gone except sound deadening material, no a/c p/s. No clue what it weighed before I did all that though.

strip everything you possibly can! and when you do you just get that power to weight ratio a little bit bigger, honda's love/need that !

That person probably meant it in the context of "It feels like you gain 15hp with every 100lbs you take off." No matter what the weight of the car is... if you put it on a dyno it will read the same HP at 2200lbs as it will at 2500lbs.

its for every 100lbs it shaves a one tenth off the 1/4
