Default Drag Radial diamater?

What diamater drag radial are you guys running? I don't have nearly enough power to be using mickey thompson 26inch diamater drag radials, but that's as small as they come. Same thing with their ET street drag tires. 26inch is as small as they come.

What are you guys running for diamater, and what's your hp numbers? Who makes the tire, and specs please.

I'm only making like 180 whp. I havn't dynoed the car yet, but it should be about that. But 26inches seems way to big. Does it even fit under the fender? Also what diamater are your 235/60 mh dot tires?

Hoosiers website has a new radial with 8.8" tread width, and 23.7" diamater. The tire is $170 a each though. This is probably what i'll be running, unless I hear otherwise. It just seems to me that a drag radial in the 26" diamater would be way too big. Why can't they make dot legal street tires in smaller sizes. The mickey thompson ET streets would be perfect, but the smallest is 26.1" diamater.

Yeah no doubt,I think it's only a matter of time before they do. They'll see that FWD cars have merit and a huge market, just like the mustang crowd finally adopted turbocharging. Things like that just take time. Your right though,if I was a tire manufacturer,I'd sure as hell be making some tires that I know would sell!

i would say the 225 50 15 bfgs would work good for u. I used them and the 205 15 14 (bfg) last year on my motor car. My vote would be 225 50 15 bfgs

the 225 50 15 bfg is almost 24" tall. Either or would work fine with ur setup. The bfg's worked for me and have been proven time and time again

What wheels are you guys running with these? I would like to be able to buy one set of drag wheels that would work for these 15" radials, then in the future if I went to a 15" slick, I would like to be able to use the same wheels for the slicks, but most of the 15" slicks say they need 8" wide wheels. But I havn't found any 15x8 wheels except for weld or bogart. What do you guys do?

Maybe I'll just get 2 kosei k1 racint TS wheels since they're pretty cheap and use those for the radials till I decide I need a slick in the future?

I used my stock ITR wheels with the 225x50 BFG's.

For your power, you dont even really need that much tire.
I ran x8 slicks on 6-6.5inch wheels already too.

you ran whatx8? And what drag tires were you putting on 6-6.5 inch wheels?

I've heard of plenty people saying go for 24.5in slicks rather than 20 or 22 from mickey thompson because you just end up spinning. You gotta get a good ratio of power to diamater. Though azenis suck for drag racing, on my 92 hp crx dx I had no problem breaking the 23" diamater azenis loose. And if i'm going to be almost doubling my hp with the turbo setup, I probably will need the 225x50 bfg's, or a bit narrorwer drag slick.

Anybody else have a quite light car (1900 w/ driver) and around 180 whp? What tires are you running?

Read above. I ran 22x8 MT's on 6 or 6.5inch wheels. the diameter didnt matter much so I didnt post it.

But 24.5's are too much sidewall for your power. Thats my opinion though. I made more power then you and 22's cut it fine.

Doesn't say 22x8 and doesn't say MT. Also what 60foot times are you getting with the 22in slicks? What 60 foot were you geting with the 225x50 BFG? What car weight? And what HP level? Turbo, nitrous or all motor?

These factors are very important, cuz every car is different and the more information you know the easier it is to figure out where my car, or anybody elses car might stand.
