well if your not gonna go wit 15s and you just wanna go big, might as well get some 20s. your already losing performance going wit 17s so might as well kill it all the way for the look. rii rii rii

Less rim = more tire = softer ride = better control. Run the 16's the tires are cheaper and it looks cleaner slammed. Not to mention the acceleration is a lot better.
Check it I am actually selling my rims with tires. 17x7 with 215/45/17 Toyo FZ4's they are Tenzo R Formula 10's (CE28n replica) custom powdercoated bronze.

The taller tire gives you a little bit softer ride. most spec race cars in the GT divisions use a 45 series tire because it gives them the most comforting ride while not sacrificing any of the performance. when you start hitting the 55 series and up when you are making fast hard turns the side wall twists a little and doesnt give full grip there for causeing friction both waring the tire faster and causing for slower lap times.

let me add to that...
stiffer the sidewall (lower the profile) faster the response because the less the sidewall flexes. but then theres a point where if u go too stiff with the sidewall (also take into account the psi in tire) then u'll start losing performance also.
the rims also take account in handeling, generally the lighter the rim, the faster the response. when u have a lot of power, u need a bigger, wider rim to put more of the power to the ground so u won't just constantly spin the tire, look at the dragsters for an example.
