do you have a catalytic converter? If so, it might be clogged.

I had the same exact problem with my b16...and it turned out the honeycomb inside the cat was sitting sideways, hence, blocking the free flow of exhaust gases. That's why you're car feels sluggish especially on VTEC

If is making a lot of noise also you can check the CAM Gears, and if you do not have them check the cams positions timming. Just 1 degree change can produce a lot of noise, very good but nothing of power.

In the S2000 there was a sensor under the hood that was dirty... clean that one up and vtec should work perfectly fine.... all mine used to do was scream but not really move.... well hope i helped any.

well i thought that vtec kicked in later than 5K i though it kicked in a like 5.5K or 5.8K, if you alter your vtec to come it soon you could be loosing horse power because your using utilizing the high rpm valves sooner than they are supposed to be... or something

correct me if im wrong eekkkk

Do you have aftermarket cams because i put ITR cams in my car (b16a2) and vtec was obnoxious and dint make power until i bought an FPR and messed with that. Hope this helps.

Why do most people think that VTEC on a stock engine will atually do something when it engages? You're not going to suddenly jump from 50mph to 200mph...thanks.

Not sure what you mean by this because when my seconday lobes kick in there is a VERY noticeable increase in power.....honestly the feeling is similar to a small nitrous shot. <shrug>

Seriously. Also, you've got the "torqueless wonder" B16: it's not going to suddenly make a shitload more torque when the big lobes engage. Just because it doesn't "feel" faster doesn't mean it's not doing its job. These are small-displacement Hondas, people, not SBCs.

Just because the exhaust is supposed to be new doesn't mean there can't be a defective part or bad install.
