changing the clutch
just curious to know who has changed the clutch on there D-series engines, i have a 00' civic ex and adding more mods soon and i think the clutch could use a changing. and if anybody has any suggestions on whats a good brand to use,
thanks,
thanks,
Go with Exedy. They come with everything (pilot bearing, etc.). They grab hard and I haven't heard of people really ever having a problem with them. Just make sure to resurface your flywheel and use thread lock on the flywheel bolts.
well i have seen clutch kits with a ACT or EXEDY clutch with XACT light weight flywheel. but i was wondering how hard is it to change the clutch and flywheel out. do i need to drop the tranny and if i do do i need new mount bushings, things like that if anydoby could let me know what goes into changine a clutch and flywheel,
thanks,
thanks,
yes, you need to drop you tranny. no, you dont need new bushing if they still look good. theres a good write-up at the top of this forum in the FAQ about dropping the tranny and changing out the clutch.

Your flywheel will have to come out even if you didn't change it. Just make sure you replace all cotter pins, thread lock on flywheel bolts. I went with Pro Street's 8.36lb. steel racing flywheel. You get the strength and daily drive ability out of it, but still have the light weight. I don't like aluminum flywheels because the steel part is just screwed to the flywheel. You could go with a 7lb aluminum, but I would go with the steel 8lb for the strength and reliability. My stock Dx flywheel came in at 16.2lb. Just to give you an idea of how much wieght you will drop. I cut mine in half so it's all good
