Soo, Im picking up a 05 Type S soon to accompany my ITR. If I race against myself which car will win?? jp.

Here's the real pickle. If you were in my shoes, which car would you modify and which one would you keep stock? The ITR no doubt handles better and is more refined than the Type S. On the other hand, the Type S motor has more potential and less of a target for thiefs. What would you do?

 

S for straight line fun and R for twisties. Mod em both, just in different ways

The car that you drive the most should be the car that's less of a target for thieves. You should modify the DC2 and daily drive the DC5.

Once you actually get into the modifying, assuming you want to modify for road courses, you will find the depth of knowledge for the DC2 an advantage, and once you get into the idea you will notice that some things have already been done to the DC2 ITR for which you'd have to fork over money to do the same thing to the DC5 Type S.

Your DC2 is also worth less than your DC5, which is something to consider. In the event of a catastrophe, you've hurt the less expensive car.

 

This is a case where I wouldn't get the S, I'd get something like a Volvo

 

Modify both, as in, swap engines

I'd mod the R for track, but I'm sure once you start doing that, the S will feel jealous.

thats cause the S is a yout and the R is a soldier... lol

The S needs a little maturing...thats why u need to help it out in that department. RIDE HER HARD...give her nice things and show her what to do with them...ud be surprised

 

I'd modify the car that isn't under warranty. If they're both out of warranty, I'd still modify the DC2. But, it depends on what you're going to be racing it for. If you're going for Production class rally or, as lmaonade said, straight line fun, go with the DC5. If you're going for road racing or just autocross or something, go with the DC2.

Yeah mod the R pick up something cheaper then the S for a D/D

 

buy the S and use that as a daily driver, while you save up for the R and then you can track the **** out of the R

Handles better--in stock form the R does, yes.

More refined? No way. The Type S is head and shoulders better in refinement than the R is.

Type S has better refinement in which way? performance or "luxury"?

wouldn't you want an automatic for daily driving?

i would just get the base w/ auto... put it in D & floor it. + having an auto daily driver makes your R feel that much better.

 

i guess one day everyone one wants automayic... i cant stand them they make me nervous and i try to brake with my left foot. ouch, anyways mod the r and get something cheaper, get a civic? or just get the regular one not the s.

 

just do a nice suspension set up on the type s. they already come with good looking wheels, so it will be a nice daily driver. that said, i would look for a better daily driver you could get a LIGHTLY used tsx for what a new rsx-s costs. something to consider!

 

i think u should use S as daily driver...maybe slightly mod u know standard bolt ons I/H/E but invest more for the R it can be ur weekend driver car or track car u know?

 

It makes no sense for you to buy a type s unless you just have an overwhelming love for integra's. Mod the R and look for something that is a good DD. For the 23-24k your gonna shell out for the type s you get a very nice, comfortable, car to bomb around in.

 

I can't believe it!!! The ITR is gonna be (IS) a classic. It's not gonna come over to these shores anymore how can anyone stand to mess with perfection. No normal everyday ITR owner will ever be able to out drive an ITR. Don't even think about modding the R (maybe only wheels and tires ).

Type S's are a dime a dozen. Knowing that there's a R version of the DC5 makes it that much more moddible (Is that word?)

 

i wouldn't get another car that was so similar to one that i already own. i'd get an s2k or somthing instead. but if your set on getting a type S than use that as your daily driver, and mod the **** outta your itr and keep it in the garage until you feel the need for an adrenaline rush.

To be quite honest, I think you'll end up modifying both cars.
No matter how much you try and resist/restrict yourself, it will happen. Just a matter of priority I say.

 

well since you have an R already, why are you gonna get another integra ? i mean yeah its newer and all, but if your gonna spend the money, why not upgrade to something more such as a WRX or EVO? im just curious. the S is just like the R, front engine,front drive Vtec. you dont want turbo? RWD? AWD? or even bigger blocks ? just curious.

 

Reliability, comfort, and gas mileage. Overall I like what the Type S has to offer.

Sti - Great vehicle, I put alot of consideration into this. Can be had at invoice and 2.9% apr, great bargain. I hate the exterior design and the interior seats are just too cheap.

Evo - Not reliable, ugly interior, shifts are very notchy. New 06 doesn't have the rear diffuser bumper like the JDM ones.

Wrx - Never even considered this. Why settle for a Wrx when I could afford the bigger brother (Sti)?

S2k - Another serious contender. I love the new 2.2L 240 hp and its rwd. I dont like convertibles, no rear seats, not mod friendly, and almost non existant trunk.

G35 - Ok reliability, **** poor gas mileage (people reporting 15 mpg), meh interior, small trunk.

I personally didn't like the type s, too refined. Not raw enough....I'd say ITR.
