Default Widebody LS1FC / V8RX7 in the works...

here's the short story... bought an '87 RX7 and swapped in an all aluminum 1998 LS1 v8 and sixspeed T56. the car fawking RIPS and has been wonderfully reliable as a daily driver. stock motor/trans since it has huge power and weighs in at 2722 lbs, full interior, with 50/50 crossweights (diagonals). obviously needs a paintjob but otherwise its insanity... I think these swaps will only become more common in time.

- 17x10 fronts, +12 offset, 275/40R17 kumho MX, using a 1/4'' wheel spacer over extended lugstuds and oem lugnuts with the ends cut off (now open ended)
- 17x10 rears, +25 offset, 285/40R17 kumho MX
- front Tripoint replica fenders, about 65mm wider than stock - $380 shipped from http://www.RaceOnUSA.com
- rear Msports replica fenders, 30mm wider than stock - $300 shipped off ebay from http://www.FatBoyGarage.com
- gotta love the tweaked spoke design on the 10'' wide 5zigen wheels!

The front end looks alot better done then the back. The back looks like u just took some black plastic and riveted it on there.

Sweet *** 7. You need to show us some engine bay pics too.

Don't mind the dumb y above me. He clearly doesn't have any taste, or at least good taste. (referring to the thumbs down)

Interior is iffy..but w/e the engine makes up for it.

^^I think i saw one of these go buy my house. I'm sitting here with the window open and hear this nasty sounding v-8 comming by. Then all of a sudden it kinda gets on it but I see a rx-7 go by Dunno if it had a nasty exhaust leak or something it sounded weird..but v8 weird

thanks guys, well, some of you. yeah I do get a lot of confused looks on people, but its one of four LS1FC's in my town so some people are catching on to the concept, thats cool. some rotary guys are mad/pissed/confused, but the domestic and honda/nissan/subie guys are stoked to see how well it fits and that you dont need to change the chassis at all to make it fit. it really does pull hard and handle incredibly well. I was able to cornerweight it and after a good alignment its a sick sick roadcar, total S2000 destroyer. this has a vette Z06's power to weight ratio and I havent even cammed it yet!

its gonna be all black, possibly flat black (professionally flat), but I wonder if gunmetal or nimbus gray would be better.

I like the rear rivet-on look, its a I-dont-care-if-its-not-stock look, that is fully finctional. there are mould-on rears available but thats a lot of fiberglass and epoxy work. Ive seen them first hand locally and sure they look much better but I dont wanna shell out $1000 for someone else to do that or even spend the 20 hours doing it myself... no thanks...

hey... it was sitting with a dead rotary for TWO years in the previous owners hands, I brought this car back to life! from the dead! now it rips and its only 75 pounds heavier! back off.

there are loads of engine bay pics at my homepage, in some of the many albums... its still dirty, I gotta clean it all up!

1) I didnt ruin the rx7, remember, its MY car, not yours.
2) um, didnt I say its gonna be painted? ****, chillout.
3) so you are an expert in widebody LS1FC handling huh? what offsets would you recommend?
4) sorry it doesnt look like what you want to see, should I sell it all and build another EG hatch?

i love rx7s, theyre my first love, but i always say thumbs up to w/e u want to do to your 7. i say to all 7 owners do what makes you happy, its the joy of owning a 7 and people see their 7 different. every numb nut here always says put a 20b in the 7 but do they realize it costs 20grand to do? i remember on rx7club i was viewing a video of a 10AE 7 and i didnt read the post. i didnt hear a 13b, it was a V8, that thing was ripping it was crazy.

That's Nucking Futs, I love it!

First thing that came to mind when I saw it was :flat black. Do it. Do it now.

I love FC's and FD's (don't really like 1st gens) but I wouldn't want to bother with a Rotary, ever. I don't care how much people will try and preach power to weight, power to displacement, RPM, etc. etc. I don't care, a rotary is an unreliable engine. Everyone that I have met with a modded rotary is on either their 2nd or 3rd engine

Mad props from me

Ben

Good job, man! That thing looks mean as hell, and has the ***** to back it up. I would've at least taken a paintbrush and painted the rivets on the rear flares black, but that's just me.

if you spend some more time with some paint and tlc it will be a beautiful car

Rotary power sucks anyway - in between shitty gas mileage and poor reliability lies the wankel.

I really want to see someone do the 4.0L aurora quad cam though

And either mount the ac controls in the center console or ditch them - a good alternative would be vintage ac's system
