what size turbo do u guys have on your stock gsr motor
i just got rid of my garrett 42/.48 a/r and i need some help on picking a good turbo for my gsr. anyone boostin there stock gsr???
What are your goals? How much power do you want? You need to give more info if you want to get help. Is this your daily driver or a "toy". I would also suggest using the search feature. There are plenty of posts (especially archived) about gsr turbos.
well i'm looking to at least reach 280-300hp. its going to be my daily driver. well i'll check out some posts. but i still want to find out what size turbos u guys are running on your gsr. if u can please continue to post here on my thread with your turbo sizes.
alright did some searches would a 60-1 do the job. also if i'm daily driving the car would 280-300 hp be safe to drive around in with the stock block?
I think if you never plan on going over 300 HP then IMO the 60-1 is going to be overkill. Have you thought about the GT28RS or a GT2871R? They'll be a little more expensive, but the response and powerband would make up for it.

Take a look at the either the GT3251E or the GT3255E. Both will have great spool up, will be able to support boost until redline and can be found at a decent price (because they do not have a BB center section). I have been doing research for quite sometime, almost 3 years, on a turbo setup for my GSR and I think I'm going to go with the GT3251E. My goals are around 300 whp and should be able to reach this at 12 to 14 psi.
Here is the compressor map for the GT32E

What prices have you seen for the 60-1? if the GT28RS is too much you can look at the GT28R which is only $775. I dont know how the GT28R compares to the 60-1 or the 28RS and 2871R. A few weeks ago I did some searching for 60-1 on H-T, but that wouldn't come up in any of the terms I typed in. Just check and make sure that you aren't getting a turbo that is too big for you intended goal. Maybe somebody can tell you whatthe spool times are gonna be like, because I dunno.

I would be worried the GT28RS might run out of steam up top. I took a look at the 28RS but the top end was what sent me to the GT32. I could be wrong as this will be my first turbo. Talk to Art (arturbo) he helped me out.
Another person to talk to would be tony the tiger. I remember watching that video of the Green Teg GSR with the GT28RS, and I thought it was pretty cool.
check out http://www.atpturbo.com they had a A4 with a GT28RS turbo making 426 all wheel HP , and AWD have a 35% drive train loss of power.

Yeah, I saw that vid...it was awesome. That's what made me want the 28RS initially. On Precision's site the 28 is listed at 320 hp. I realize that precision underrates their turbos, but that is also hp at the crank and not whp. If I were to want more power later I don't know if the 28 would be enough.

This is the turbo that I am probably going to go with. If you don't mind, what was your setup? I have just started to get the things I need to piece together a kit. I am hoping for around 300 at the wheels. I figure 10 to 12 psi should do it. What fuel/engine management were you using?

gt30r 10 psi head never been off the block, 314whp on dyno jet

gt30 is definatelly worht the money.. i must say im impressed with spool time, and instant power... but sc61 would do the job for 300 whp on stock motor easy on 10 psi ish on a conservative tune gl...
i made 319.9 hp at 9 psi with a t3/to4e 60 trim.
at 12 psi the 60 trim is right in the meat of its efficiency range on a b18c1 according to its compressor map.
