looks like your car was bondoed before, the right way to do it is to cut out the metal till theres no more rust (it goes a lot farther on the inside than you think) and WELD in new pieces of metal.

also, take off one of your sideskirts, i bet that'll be a fun surprise.

Sand the whole car down using a Sand Blaster. Quickest way. Sand it to bare metel if u have to just to get rid of the rust. And have it repainted. that outta do it.

I was told even if you do cut an weld new pieces of sheetmetal that the welds will attract moisture and the paint will start bubbling if it does.

but yeah, where can i get parts for welding and sheet metal and stuff? I read about gettin fiber glass and stuff in one thread. the car came up good. should i do the same?

it does? i think i read about something like that, so you like add a primer or something that like doesnt attract moister and stuff and then u resand it and paint over it? haha

If you don't do something to the metal right after wards it will.

Either primer or bondo attracts moisture, can't remember off hand. Best way to fix it, is get lucky and go to a junkyard with a sawzall and cut the panels off.

I have a customer who bidded on a rust free crx shell, it ended at 9 bucks and the guy who had the auction said if you win, I will cut everything off. So this customer of mine is getting brand new rust free panels.

The product you speak of is called POR15. It is a sure solution to returning rust. But first you must clear that **** up. Shouldn't be too hard if you are willing to get dirty... and grinder is ur best friend now.

I should know, mine was just as bad if not a lil worse on the quarters.

ok....I do this for a livin here guys......you must cut the old rust out, then weld in new pannels....they should be avaliable at any autoparts store, or even your local Honda Dealership....

Once you weld it in you'll need to etch the bare metal with an etching spray.....then apply your filler, primer, dry sand, wetsand, then blend prep the rest of your fenders, then apply your paint.

Rust isnt a minor issue, I'd never use fiberglass to repair it, thats like a bandaid for a bullet wound.

These are also unibody vehicles, if you cut out the old metal and fill it with fiberglass like that other DIY thread its gonna eventually give out and crack, your rear 1/4's are the whole bodys structural integrity. I wouldnt cut it and fiberglass it if I were any of you.

If you build your car on a nickel budget thats all your gonna get is a POS worth a nickel, and it causes more harm than good, and its a danger to others on the road.

Just do it right the first time and you'll never need to re-do your work.

Soon as something is took to bare metal it MUST be cleaned, etched and sealed.

All primers and fillers are pourous and will hold moisture.

Did you not like my answere in your other post?
Like I said before, CUT AND WELD IS THE ONLY WAY

LoL yeah. -=D Ima try that, cut out some metal from other car from the junk yard. Better yet, i'll just buy the front and back panels. so then i guess im going to go to a junkyard, pick up some scraps bring it back. After that i look at my crx and look for more rust, (possibly under my sideskirts). Hopefully there is no rust there if there is only Minor, well that is what im hoping. if there isnt YES! if there is.

im probably gona DIY or take it to the shop. i duno. im inexperienced with this. But yeah, with the door panels ima "etch" out a write size for it and then like place it over the rust area that i am gona cut out? but i don't mean just that little spot i mean like atleast a inch past the rust.and make shure there is no rusting in the area. haha Because this is true "rust spreads like cancer"
-=D if i can i will get pics up.

for now i guess im going to have to look at this matter more. because i thought fiberglass would work more. i guess it isnt all that 100% safe. i read in another post to go to bodyshops and autoparts store and go talk to them about it you know? "Pick at their brains a little" Which i think im going to do.

LoL, and this is like my 1st real official post where i didnt get flammed or burned up. Beter yet feel like im actually learning stuff. -=D

haha when im done and if sucessfull, i will do a write-up. -=D if i can
