Default miss firing

the car is an stock 88 CRX si and i don't own the car but am thinking of buying it. the guy said when the car comes up to operating temp. that it then miss fires. he also said the exhaust is not connected to the header. what could be the problem?

well, you kinda answered your problem.

when i drove with no exhaust on the car, it backfired a lot.

you kinda need exhaust backpressure, because otherwise the exhaust valves will overheat and cause damage.

granted, it could be other things causing the missing, like plugs, etc, but i'd bet that.

most likely and if there is a problem the stock motor can be had for cheap. if the price is right then id buy it.
