What would you pay for........
Some of you may know that I recently posted about an 86 crx si I was going to buy for 400 bucks. Well that deal fell through (buyer said he would hold the car then sold the car) no biggy.
Well theres this car down the road from me thats always caught my eye. A 1986 red Crx Si plain stock. Perfect cond. no rust I mean nothing, paint is still glossy. Interior is a 10, body a 10. Ive seen this car on the road many times and it runs nice. Im going to assume a/c because the guy always has the windows up in the summer. BTW this is an older guy, around 55 I would guess.
What I dont know, is how many miles (Im gonna assume low for the year). Maintenance?...but Im sure its well cared for.
When I looked up the value its was around 2500 for something this clean, plus the car isnt for sale. I want to just walk up to the guys house and offer him some cash but I dont want to give money away I dont have to. Im thinking I have one shot at this so I want to "stun" him with a good cash offer by waving the right amount of hundreds in front of him lol.
Am I crazy? Well a few years back I drove by this 79 ford short bed in perfect cond. (Im a sucker for late model Ford trucks) and asked if (another older couple) they would like to sell it. Well long story short I bought it for a 1500 less than what I was going to offer and sold the truck 10 years later for a 1000 profit.
Any thoughts guys? Thanks.

From the description, I would say about 1500-1800 but if the guy isn’t selling the CRX, it is very difficult to purchase it (my opinion).
Good luck

Worse than that Ive talked with him once a couple weeks ago. Not about his car but about autoxing his car with our club. He mentioned that his niece was going to be getting the car fo college.
So its basically a rescue operation now lol.
Good luck

Ahh the joys of the 86 SI. I miss mine a lot. First CRX I ever had. Only CRX that had AC and only 1st Gen I owned. You better offer him a good deal so you can seal it right then and there. And make sure that you mention that you aren't just some kid off the streets who wants to buy it so that you could turn it into a piece of crap with a huge muffler and spoiler. You actually care about this car and that it gets a good home. And if he trusts his granddaughter with it, tell him that you won't bother him anymore. But leave your name and phone number with him just in case. Good luck brotha.

First off...great signature man.
Yeah I figure I have the one shot at it. You know if it wasnt that perfect specimen I wouldn't think twice about it, but how often do you come across a car like this? Its funny you mention that your first CRX was an 86. My very first brand new car...right off the showroom floor was a 1986 Si.
Im pretty sure he knows where I live and what cars I drive so he should be fine with that lol.
So what kinda price do you think?
So far weve heard upto 1800.

I always let them name the price. I got my mint 91 CRX Si and my 85 Corolla GT-S for $500 each, I would have paid twice that. Let them do the talking, you may be suprised.
