Default Help me replace my stock speakers, (99civic)

My cousin wants to replace her stock speaker on a 1997 civic coupe. The front/rear and tweeters are to be replaced. Does any one have any install instructions on this? The only thing i'm worried about is installing the tweeters, I'm afraid to remove the door panel.

any info is appreciated.
thanks!

remove the screw holding the door handle, then remove the handle. remove the screwholding the door window switch, remove the switch panel. remove the speaker grill (clips off) remove the stock speaker. remove the screws by the edge of the speakers (4) carefully pull the door panel from the door (clips off). thats it.

yeah infinkc did a good explanation.. i just wanted to add. that the little triangle piece where the stock tweeter is by the side view mirror is just held on by clips also.. have the window down and grasp the triangle wedge that the tweeter is on and pull it out (towards inside cabin).. and it will pop out.. along w/ the stock tweeter

other than that the instructions above should get you through the job..

the rear shelf has a lot of those plastic clips.. if you look in the trunk under the shelf, or fold down the seats and look under. you will see them..

its pretty simple/straight forward.. good luck w/ the install..

Thanks for the responce guys. I have a couple more questions.

I'm gonna purchase the polk dx3000 tweeters. Will these bolt up in the stock location fine?, or is there some modification needed.

Second, do I have to remove the door to replace the speakers or tweeter? For the front speakers dont I just pop off the grill, and for the tweeters just pop off the cover thing? Why remove the door

For the rear speakers, whats involved back there? Do I remove the cover and just unscrew the screws, and done?

thanks again!

You'll have to remove the side bolsters first by taking the bolt off. The bolt is hidden between the seat cushin and bolster. Stick in your fingers to feel it.

rear is alot harder. To do it correctly you have to remove the rear seat, has 4 goldish 10mm bolts holding the passenger rear side seat and 2 for the drivers rear (you must remove the passenger side first). Remove the bracket holding the drivers side rear seat one 10mm (black). Seat backs should be out now. next remove the seat bottom, one 10mm in the center and then pull the cushin off. remove the two side brackets that held the seat backs on(on the sides). Now you have to remove the side panels. there should be one screw holding the panel to the chassis ansd a few plastic clips. The panel should pull back and pop off. Be carfull not to reak the plastic on the back panel by the seat belts. repeat preocess on the other side. Now remove the rear deck, should be able to pull up and pop it off. Make sure you disconnect the 3rd brake light also. WOW now you should be done, easy as that. yea im boored if your wondering and yes i worked at a stereo shop so i know how to take just about every car apart by now.

Wow, you really know your stuff. You dont happen to have any pictures for the rear showing how to do all this, do you?

ok, back to the fronts. I'm gonna be purchasing the infinity 60.3cs component system, and this comes with a little crossover. Where do you guys mount this crossover, in the door? or external?

Also does the tweeter mount without trouble in the stock location?

sup man.. i mounted some 60.2CS in a 97 Civic before.. the tweeters will fit into the stock locations.. i put the X-over box in the door... you can also mount in by the kickpanel by the ECU i guess.. but i just put it in the door.. i have my tweeters mounted kinda angled.. too bad my friend lost my digital cam(there goes $700)
= ( or i'd take pix for you of my install..
