itb's
well ive been looking around and searching but found no answer.. can somebody explain to me what an itb is.. does it stand for intake throttle body? what are they? some what i saw do they just compleatly bypass your intake system? and are they street legal?
street legal?
it doesnt even have a real air filter, do you think those pig gonna let you go without a big fat fix-it ticket?
what modification?
hardware: there's no production level ITB for accord, most of the guys are using motorcycle(750-1000cc) throttle-bobies, which involve ALOT of custom work(welding, cutting, etc)
someone would see a complete'ed bolt on for a grand or more(itb, injector, throttle rotor, v. stack, manifold, etc)
software: you gonna retune/remap the WHOLE A/F ratio, it's going to be spending some dyno time to get it run right.(not too rich, not too lean, idle, etc)
Bottemline: WORTHLESS unless you have a built NA/High Reving motor(read: b18c5, F20S2K), which pretty much nothing have to do with stock accord motor(which makes little hp at the redline)
oh yeah, most of the bseries guy running those are gettinng SLIGHTLY more MPG than a hummer

ive seen people use mesh wiring to keep out larger chunks.....i believe one of the toyota 20v 4cyls had "itbs" stock...however they were enclosed in anohter housing, and then a filter and piping fed into the housing

same thing for the m3's all SIX of the ITB is enclosed in a big air induction box, which is filtered.

those sure look cool, but it doesn't sound like they're good for much</TD></TR></TABLE>
they are good for what it is, it's just not very useful on a street driven car(again, some might argue) esp. on low reving accord single cam motor.
in other hand, if you have a built NA monster, you can run that thing all day long at the track
