insurance q... really need help
ok, so i got into an accident, and some ladie rear ended me, now her insurence company has to pay like 1100 for damages, and i think they want to send the check to an autobody place, how would i go about having them make the check out to me? if i wanted to repaire the crap myself, aslong as they assessed the worth and damaged parts, and they have that rating on paper, can they legaly say no if i told them to make the payment out in my name? sorry to ask this in here, but i dont see anywere else to post this... anybody help will help!
I've had a check written to me before. I just told them that I wasn't sure where the work was going to be done and that it was going to be a combination of at least three different places (one for body work, one for paint, one for the tire alignment).
Of course, this was in Illinois, maybe New Jersey laws are a little different...

Check shops first. Some can be pretty cool.
I had my 93 hatch fixed at Honda's autobody. They said if I wanted to upgrade I just have to pay the difference. Example: $320 WW Urethane Front...my price was $210, free paint job due to painting the front anyways. They just make me pay the difference.
My buddies 97 hatch was just fixed too. His shop did a load more work than they were supposed to, but because the shop said 'this must be done', the insurance company didn't care.

When some lady hit me her insurance (which was also my ins co) made the check out to me even though I had told them where I was getting the car fixed. So you never know.
