Default Need help w\ ZC ASAP!

I just bought a CRX w/ a DOHC ZC swap. The car is having trouble starting without starter fluid and even after spraying starter fluid into the intake it will chug desperatley but will die after a few seconds. Changed the spark plugs just in case.

The CEL light is on and I went to check the code but it is only giving me one solid light, no blinks or anything <thats one prob, any siggestions?

Second, What is the firing order of the ZC motor? From the distributor to the cylinders, I know #4 cyl is closest to the distributor but it seems like there is a solid miss like the wires arent plugged in the correct order.

I checked to see if the wires were getting spark so I grounded them to the valve cover while the car was idling and each spark plug wire omitted some spark, although # 4 cylinder didnt change engine note where-as the others made the engine die once pulled seperatley.

Also, where is the idle control screw? I want to play around with it just to make sure its not backed out.

Please help me out asap as I need this car up and running! Thankyou so much

Solid ECU light = Dead ECU *for the most part. Try another ECU; PM6,PM7,PG7. - Darrell

hey , are you sure about that? I need to be absolutely sure a solid light is a dead ECU. Would the car idle or attempt to start with a dead ECU? I tryed retarding the timing a bit with the distributor but that made it sound worse, then I put it back to stock timing and it sounded a bit better.

Could I give you a call if you wouldnt mind??? Thanks

would a P06 work by chance? I think its obd1

It would attempt, the reason it is even firing is because you are FORCING it to with all that starter fluid. The small spark it is giving is hitting those big puddles of fluid your spraying ontop of the cylinder and its creating enough of a spark to turn the crank a small bit. It may sound like its firing but it will fall flat on its face as soon as the starter fluid is burned. Find a friend and barrow his ECU. More than likely it is that, solid ECU's from my experience mean they are toast. - Darrell

I'm not sure about the ECU, I know if it's solid light then its a bad ECU but also try pulling your injectors out. I got a ZC last december and dropped it in back in january. I pulled the injectors after not being able to turn it over for more than a few seconds. Someone recommended to me to check the injectors, I pulled them and the tips were jet black, soaked them in injector cleaner for a couple hours and then put them back in, took a few rough cranks but I got it running.
