Default H22 for Auto X

Well, my normal plan was for a 92-95 B16 SiRII. I/H/E. TEIN suspension. Hasport mounts and axles. and dyno tuned.

But then i started reading about B20's and H22's which have mad Tq numbers.

What would be better for Road racing, B20/GSR, H22, or B16? all basicaly with the same engine mods.

What would be the cheapest?

I'd like a H22 or B20/VTEC for autox. Just make sure you get a LSD for autox, I ran a B16 with a JRSC (pretty torquey setup) with an open diff for one autox and it would just spin the inside wheel when cornering, which is pretty much all the time on an autox course..

Topic title says autocross

Post says road racing

And I saw the word "mad" in there without talking about feelings or behavior.

Methinks you need to actually do some road racing, or autocross before deciding on an engine swap.

I autoX my h22 dc2 all the time. it plows a lot if you push it too hard but you just gotta learn how to drive it differently. it's fun!! lsd is a must. i have 14k/12k springs on my zeals. drives nice with 24/22 mm sway bars. rear end kicks out nicely when i ineed it to.

if your going to do both I would stick with the b16 - the weight difference between that and the h22 is quite noticable and the extra weight up front is not good for quick left to right transitions

If I was not in a **** state like cal I would pick up a b20z and a b16 hydro lsd gearbox - I almost yesterday bought that exact combo from password - except I was going to get the b20b and a ctr gear box - however this is never going to be smoggable or be eligible for bar certification so I didn't and got a b16 w/lsd instead

The problem I have always faced with a dual purpose car is that the quick nimble almost oversteer setup's for auto-x make for a very unstable car at double those speeds especially in a short wheelbase hatch.
