need a lil help. the motor will only rev to about 3200!
The motor will only rev to about 3200 and act like it is bouncing off a rev limiter and when driving it, it fills like you are driving with the parking brake on. It's holding back a lot. Any ideas on what could be the cause of this.
ef zc but it was doing the samething with the d15 in it. I thought that when I changed the motor that it would fix the problem but it is still doing the same thing.
air intake temp and coolent temp are the main codes that it is showing. Every now and then it will show eld and crank angle.

The crank angle code is what is putting the ecu into limp mode and not allowing it to rev to more than 3k rpm.
For that crank angle code: Check the continuity of the wires between the ecu (at C1 or C2) and the distributor. If there is not continuity, replace the wires and then check again, you should be fine. IF there is continuity, resolder your connection at the ecu at C1 or C2, whichever it is. Make sure the connection between the harness and the ecu is good, also check to see that the distributor plugs have a good connection. You said 'every now and then', so I am going to say your distributor is good becuase it works, then doesn't work, then works again, that should solve your problem. Also here is what the manual says for it:

crank angle is a pain, there is a spark that goes off in it, best bet go to pick n pull snag one off a 89 teg.
it took me 2 months to find that problem becasue i didn't know the crank angle was'nt aprart of the distributor on the dohc

yea, i did'nt understand it then one day my car just stopped all together this is back when i first got in to hondas.
If that crank angle sensor is off you'll start to see it go south and next thing you know it won't even fire up. I suggest just pocketing one next time your at pick n pull

Had that problem last year after I did my b16a into 88 crx dx swap. Ane once i got to 3200 rpms it just cut out like a rev limiter.
Every code I had lead me to "Replace ECU with known good ECU." Well, finally after no help anywhare I decided to take it in. I gave it to one of my friends that works at a honda dealer. He tested it and told me the ECU was crap. I had to buy a new one off of ebay, cost me 135, but once i put it in it worked great.
Let us know how it works and get the ECU tested!

So, I need to replace the distributer and not the cam angle or should I replace them both. I know the ecu is good I pulled it out of a car that was running with no problems.
