AT to MT swap. What to do about key cylinder lock override?

Default AT to MT swap. What to do about key cylinder lock override?

after completing an auto to manual swap, I realized that you cannot take the key out of the ignition until you disconnect the battery.

I figure this is because on the auto- manual swap you essentially jump the harness to make the car think it's in 'drive' all the time; I guess on an auto you cannot take the key out with the gear in 'drive'.

How do you get around this?

What harness do I have to jump/modify? I searched through the info i previously gathered and I don't see this problem addressed.

I just did this, write up is at http://www.4gcivic.net


Look at the large multi wire connector that was near the auto shifter. There should be a pin missing. Hold the clip so that the missing pin is at the lower right. The pin directly above it has to be shorted with the pin to the left of it. (hope that makes sense). If you short it with a paper clip (to test) you will see the park light come on. Then just clip the wire and solder them together.

Well I've got those jumped. The car starts just fine...but it just won't let me get the key out.

It doesn't make sense to me.

Is the park light on?

The only wires you need to jump are the ones I described (which control the park light and key release) and the two thick wires on the other clip (starter kill).
