I had the exact same problem. I had to run to the hard wear store and pick up different o-rings. The little red crap they give you for the rear joint collar doesn't give enough bushing. Take the old black ones with you and go a little bigger. I wish I could give you a perfect size, but I bought like four sets at once to be sure I had the right the right fit.

GOOD LUCK!

Mine has a rattle but I am running the metal bushing. Definetly shouldn't do that with urethane bushings.

Metal bushing? I think they all use the metal bushing, but your supposed to put o-rings on them for cushion.
I mean I've got ES shifter bushings, but with the B&M replacement shifter they give you these really soft crappy o-rings (red I think they were) to put over the rear joint collar so that it doesn't rattle. They do any way so by replacing them with stiffer ones you don't get the rattle. If you meant something I didn't get it.

Most likely the bottom end of the shifter was hitting on the exhaust piping. From that ball joing, the bottom part of the short-throw shifter is extended further down, reaching the exhaust piping. Shifting it into gear raises the bottom of the shifter higher, away from the exhaust piping. I can't explain it in words. Just picture or imagine it in your head.
