Ouch!

Note the tire difference between me and Alex in the race vid. I'm on either old V700s or Toyos and understeering like **** & he's on V710s...still understeering but hookin' up & powering out.

Well, I knew they were 4-5 sec quicker than me in the dry, and they were probably gonna have a good race as long as a slower car didn't screw it up. I told most of them on the grid that I'd run wide in #1 and let 'em go race.

1 part sportsmanship...two parts self preservation !

WHAT?!

DATS SOME BULLSHIT RIGHT THERE!

(And I definitely know what I'm talking about this time - I'm a grand master of gentlemanly racing).

You could have gotten a good start, and then driven a Very Aggressive DEFENSIVE race and gone for the win (or a better overall position at least)....Sure, let the crybabies call it blocking...DAMN, I'M SMELLING KEROSENE ALL OVER THESE DAYS!

Scott, who has no time for anything right now, and yet finds the time for throwing **** around here..."I do it to keep from losing my mind"...

When there's a guy chasing you, that's about the best thing you can do to stay ahead. It doesn't matter how slow you are mid turn as long as your exit is good. The better it is the harder it will be for the guy behind to get a run and pass in the next braking zone. My brakes were good so I could go deep if necessary, but front grip was down considerably at the end of the race compared to the beginning. All I could do was slow it way down for each corner and make sure I could get good exit, especially out of T7, T8 and T13 and T14 on that track. With the front grip being the way it was, I was using 2nd gear for T11, T12 and T1 in addition to normally doing it for T14 just to get that little jump in those last two laps. Would have been interesting to go another lap.
(oh and I just LOVE the sound of your ITR!)

Of course, most of them would have blown by me anyway even if I hadn't braked early and stayed right!

Did you notice that I'd drop out of VTEC, and it would pick back up mid corner? Probably should have just dropped to second in a few of those corners, but trying not to spin my tired old mill too hard.

Can you imagine if I had all of those guys held up behind me when I did my "Oh Chit" in the kink? Those H1s would have pounded my little R like road kill possum!

PS - I totally agree that however tired your poor old mill is, it sounds GREAT.

Ditto to what Oscar said. I'm glad I'm not that old...

Yeah, no kiddin'.

I'll probably run Rockingham on boulders, it used to be pretty hard on tires back in the day. Good rubber for VIR for sure! ....and lots of Geratol.

Assuming it hasn't been resurfaced since we last ran there in about 1996, The infield surface was very flat & course. It has just been used for RV parking and go carts since then, so it is likely the same surface.

Working off of memory, which has shown to suck, The Rock wasn't that bad. The fish hook would eat tires because of the understeer. If you watched any of the overhead shots during races there, the RV's were parked in the grass. So unless they messed up the pavement getting there, it should be in great shape. Jack can inform us after next weekend's PCA event

Looks like fun. Any way you guys that have been to both Rockingham and Charlotte/Lowes could make some not so obvious comparatives? Thanks
