sloppy suspension after hard run
**DISCLAIMER**this thread involves talking about spirited driving on a public road. NOT racing, but spirited driving. the difference is that there was no pushing one another to go faster etc. no passing, no cutting into other lanes (on purpose at least). if you have issues with people driving in this manner please do NOT comment. too often people lie to themselves and try to say if there was an open curvy road at 11 at night that they wouldnt push it a bit. BULLSHIT, kiss my ***, you probably just got back. **DISCLAIMER**
Last night a couple friends and I decided to go driving. there is a local road that has some nice tight turns and goes for about 5 miles or so. for the first half the car was good, handled nicely but i could tell i needed a bit more camber and an allignment. then we stopped for a couple minutes.
on the second half we came to some tighter turns and that is where the car decided to get quite sloppy. i would come around a turn and the front wouldnt dig in like it normally does, the *** end drug along with it and before you know it i was in the oncoming lane. the car was still in control but it seemed as if the response was gone and the weight of the car doubled.
my suspension setup is Koni SP3's and skunk2 springs. I have ordered ground controls with 400F / 350R so when they get in hopefully that will take care of a lot of the sloppieness.
tires are the new 615 azenies with about 1500 miles on them. car is a 2000 prelude.
so the question is this.
what causes the car to become sloppy like that? what can you do about it?
TIA

Sounds like understeer to me......maybe your front tires were just getting a little too hot and tired from the flogging.....
Some tighter rear coils or a good swaybar should help...

Your tires got hotter and changed their handling characteristics. Very common for autocrossers who use Azenis (215). They use water sprayers to cool them down between runs.

Uhh...what? 615s are the azenis 215 replacement. Not much all season about them. I'd go with MrHeelToe on this one. I've not experienced the 615s yet but if they didn't fix it, they may overheat like the 215s. Not sure that would happen on a public road but who knows. Also looks like you have a fairly front heavy setup on an already front heavy car. If you've not ordered the GCs yet (or they haven't shipped), I'd opt for some 500lb/in. springs in the rear on something like a prelude. Hell, I run 350/450 on my CRX and ran 450/550 on my Del Sol. The Konis would def. hold it if you have the ssps3 valving already too.

thanks for the responses guys.
i guess some extra heating could be attributed to that stop from all the heat from the rotors and no air moving it away from the wheels.
next set of tires i get will be S03's.
oh, and a progress rear bar will be on the way soon i hope.

Teh bar will help. If the tires are getting hot, it is not so much their fault as it is they are being overworked. That happens on an FF car, and your idea to put a bar on is probably the best one.

You guys shouldn't be driving fast on roads like that
I bet that new bar makes a very noticeable difference for you. You don't have any bars on there right now right?

nothing on there. no sway bars, no strut bars, stock bushings. the only suspension upgrades are the struts and springs. so she still has a lot of room to improve

Sorry I was thinking 512's for some reason.
