VTEC and idle problems.. help needed
OK, here are my problems (car is 92 hatch with b16a)
On cold start my car likes to idle at about 2500 up to 3000 rpm. After searching other posts, it seems it could be the fast idle sensor but i'm not to sure.? Secondly, VTEC doesn't want to engage anymore. I changed the oil about 2 weeks ago, along with some new spark plugs. After changing the oil, i let the car warm up and went for a drive..... NO VTEC! i took the car home after that, parked it in the drive way over night and when i drove it the next morning VTEC was working for a few hours without any trouble. I turned the car off, got lunch etc and after that.... NO VTEC AGAIN!
Since then VTEC hasn't worked again.
I also noticed a leak in the headers, i'm wondering if this could be upsetting a sensor?
I've been told so many things as to what it could be, but a little confused as to where i should start? I've also been told that a new computer will solve all my problems?
Any info or advice would be appreciated
cheers
Lloyd

is th ECU throwing any codes? CEL light on? Check the connections from the VTEC solenoid all the way to the ecu. VTEC engagement is dependent on oil level and pressure as well as proper connections to th ecu.
Replace the exhaust gasket on your leaky header.
Replace the exhaust gasket on your leaky header.
checked idle screw and throttle cable and all seem to be in order...
Checked for codes and the engine light just stayed on!?
am i doing something wrong, or does this mean somehting?
