i have a 2000 civ ex. its been through snow rain and sun. ive noticed after soaping/sponging it, i see paint or yucky chunks on my car. its rough ( not the smooth paint finisih) could it be damaged paint or soap taht hurts the paint? if so what could i do to fix this? thx

 

if it is bubbled up or has a chunk missing, its paint.

if it has many circles in it (looks like in the paint), its clearcoat

roughness, try waxing and buffing it. if you never buffed it before, have someone do it that has expierience

 

did you use dawn soap, my friend did that and something like that happend to his car

 

no its like a sandy rough feel, kinda like sand on your car but its in the paint. i used some cheap pink car wash soap from the 99 cents store..but i suspect its paint damage from the snow it was in last winter. it is now safe from snow but the damage has been done.

 

have youtried clay barring the car. it might just be that but if its like big pieces not just a rough feeling im not sure...
