Going through brakes like underwear... need help
A month ago, I had my car up at gingerman for a track day, came home in need of 4 new brakes. The drums I knew were in need of a change, they had a good 49K on them anyways. The fronts.... ok. I've driven pretty hard in the last year, lots of autocross, couple track days, so I expected to eat brakes pretty quick, but overall I was pretty satisfied with the way the brakes worked, so I reordered the same thing. Brembo OE replacements and Axxis Ultimate pads. I replaced the rears with another set of Honda Shoes, because there's nothing else available that I could find. Anyways, moving right along now.... 3 weeks ago, I changed everything, took the pads off and found that the 2 outers had started to separate from the backing. Not good, but I thought maybe it was because they were starting to get worn down and I beat them good. Put the new set on, they've got almost 1000 miles on them and went back up to G-man again for test and tune night. Well, the pads didn't really like that. They chunked, and from the sound of it and the looks of the inside of the rear wheels, I did a pretty good number on the drums too. I'm kinda stuck here. Obviously I'm overheating them, but I don't know what I can do. I can buy higher temp race only pads for the front and use them just for the track. The other option is just to get bigger ones (the Wilwood 11" rotor/caliper kit that still clears 15" wheels), which may not be a bad idea, but I'm not sure I need that much. The rears are a sticky point. My only option I think is to switch em to discs from the Si. Beyond that, I don't know what to do, i can't keep nuking brake linings, its going to get old fast.
They're 10.2" rotors and 201mm drums (8" I guess). The car, with my fat *** in it probably weighs about 2900-2950 lbs and its only got about 110 WHP. I don't think speed is killing them, I think its all the weight. But I don't know. Anyone got any suggestions before I cook a 3rd set? It seems like everything on the car is underdone except the radiator. Thats the only thing that seems to work right.

here is what i would do might be over doing it but if your going to do it all at once do it.
Replace front wheel bearings, and remove the dust sheilds. this will let more air flow into the rotor better.
then i would step up to something like a Cobalt GT-sport (ht user civicrr sells them), they are a great pad for street and track, i had some squilling in the cold but none after that, and they do produce dust. Honestly though you will go threw brakes alot when you are tracking your car.
Also just get cheap rotors from autozone.
and about the rear i think once you switch to a more aggressive pad you will find yourself not going threw the back brakes.

i think you need to go much slower.
hahaha!
that sucks man...
over kill with brakes isnt the worst thing though....if you can afford the wilwoods, and they are the new sealed wilwood calipers, why not go for them...plus they make a million pads, and the pads are like 1/3 the cost of OE replacements most of the time.
i know how ya feel (obviously, as you saw what i was doing to my brakes at the vw event)
finally got mine worked out..but i also need to upgrade the size of the fronts...just dont want to pay for it.
is there any way you can pull about 200 pounds out of the car without losing street-ability? thats a LOT of weight...i have similar brakes to you, and my car weights about 600 pounds less
