Question about my ACT clutch condition (loose springs)
I've got an ACT street disc clutch in my 90 CRX with ZC engine
I was examining the condition of the clutch and I noticed that the 4 captive springs in the friction disc are pretty loose (when you have the disc in your hand and shake it, the springs vibrate pretty noticeably)
Is this fine?
Or is this a sign that it's time to replace the disc
Thanks

It shouldn't be moving at all. It should be in a snug fit. Where you have to push the springs with your fingers to move them. Even my semi-new stock clutch plate I had, I had to the same thing.
I'd replace it if I were you. You don't want unforseen problems to happen when your on a important trip or going to work.

Thanks Lord Helmet
bump - for any other input.
Btw...how much torque can a stock clutch hold?
I sorely miss my stock clutch pedal feel (ACT was pretty stiff and hard on legs in traffic)
At 6psi I am around 160-180hp and maybe 150 ft-lbs torque?
Thanks

If you baby the stock clutch it should last but not as long as you expect a stock clutch to last due to the increase of torque the engine puts out.
BTW which pressure plate are you using? Heavy Duty one? or Extreme Duty one? I have the HD version and it's only 30% more pressure I have to put on the clutch pedal. Have you just put on the clutch? I've had the ACT clutch on for about 25K miles and I'm use to the slightly heaveir clutch feel. In fact it just took me about a day to get use to the clutch feel. The ACT HDSS is the perfect one for the daily driver. Second choice is the XTSS(extreme) version which is perfect for the turbo cars.
