Cryo treating transmissions
Some of my SR20 peeps are breaking transmissions when drag racing with drag radials. Does anyone know of anyone that cryo treats large object like entire transmissions? I think I've heard of engine blocks being treated, so it shouldn't be impossible.
I've never had a problem personally. For some reason, transmission cases on B13/14 (91-99 Sentra/NX2000) Nissans crack when drag radials are used. Even if solid motor mounts are used.

Sounds like maybe solid motor mounts would only increase the likelyhood that it cracks - if a solid mount is in place its transmitting force/vibration rather than absorbing it. I would think that cryo treating would definately help these cases stay together, i gather that this is a stress failure. Its not that expensive ($600 or so for an engine block, IIRC), especially if it keeps you from cracking tranny cases and/or shredding gears because of it. Where do the failures occur? I would guess radially across the bellhousing (i.e. across the case from front to back of the engine bay).

I suppose one solution is they could stop drag racing the darn thing....

You could also drop Bowie a line. I know he sends stuff to the nascar shops in Charlotte to get dipped along with their "big" stuff. Give him a call and ask what his connection is.
