I have mixed feelings about that article. Personally I think street racing is gay. I simply feel that politicians are making completely retarded laws and running amuck in general. The problems I see with crushing someones car are: What are going to be the new auto insurance stipulations for something like this? Would this mean that insurance companies will then cover a car that is wrecked at a sanctioned race/event?

Mind you, these are all rhetoricle questions. My next concern is not only is the persons car crushed, but if this is the persons only car, he is then put in a dire situation about getting to work and being able to properly support himself. I find that situation seriously fucked up. Politicians are ******* retarded.

Next is the fact that you could be given a mistemeanor for simply watching. WTF are they thinking!? I do not know the exact wording of the law and would be interested in viewing it. If it is open ended and left up to the descretion of the police officer rather than a judge, then cops could potentially use this law to crush anyones car. Not only this but a mistemeanor is no laughing matter. Many doors in life will be locked for good.

I'm curious if this law was even voted in by the people. It seems that now is the norm for politicians to write up a law that has the interests of very few people or is the idea of preconcieved notions based on monetary gains from outside parties with interest rather then voted in by you and me.

Street racing is ******* gay. The people involved will deal with it accordingly. I simply feel the government is getting to ******* crazy with their ideas of punishments.

I feel California is a shitty place to be an automotive enthusiast. I seriously feel sorry that you guys have to bend over and grab the ankles and put up with this type of bullshit. Start fighting back against this nonsense.

Please excuse my rant. I am very passionate about these things.

Well people should think about not being able to get to work or the misdemeanor charge before street racing or watching a street race. **** the people who think it is awesome to go race around like a bunch of jackasses on public streets. These people have zero clue about car control and shouldn't even be on the road to begin with. I say crush all the ******* cars caught street racing, maybe people will think twice about it.

^because its irresponsible (face value) and can kill you...the reputation of the site (therefore its existance) is at stake if street-racing is condoned or supported in any fashion on an car forum. jma...

Well if what makes you happy has the potential to kill innocent people, that is unacceptable.

I think street racing is absolutely stupid because it defies the laws of common sense!!! I love racing as much as the next guy. One thing I have yet to under stand is if your gonna race on the street, why do U do it down the main road through town? At least thats what happens here in Alabama. For cryining out loud @ least go out of city limits where it's much easier to see headlights in the distance & keep it off the main roads.

So is your car being crushed by the police covered under any insurance policy?

I seriously doubt the Inc Co is going to give you a penny for using the car for illegal activities, especially if your found guilty in court.

great ..not too hype up street racing. But where do these people insist on it happening at? Considering they have damn near closed every dragstrip for miles...

Wait..unless you wanna go to Fontanas (one of few) 1/4 mile drags and wait 4 hours just to get one run in..

Imo, no matter what they do..say, and the amount of people that will get hurt...people will still race..especially when there really no place to go.

The responsible way from a "justice" stand point..would be to open up some tracks..so that these addicted straight line racers have a place to breathe....legally that is

Exactly what I'm thinking Rob! So my next question as stated in my first post is: In the event your at a sanctioned event on a 'real' race track and you happen to total your car, will they cover it then?

Since everyone is hell bent on getting street racing onto the track I feel we need to have some insentive. *shrug
