Default New/confirmed OptionJDM.com front lip info.

A lot of this isn't truley NEW information, it is more or less a confirmation from Baldwin Lui of OptionJDM.com. I've been emailing him back and forth trying to get some direct answers on the matter of their front lip for the USDM 88-91 front ends. Here latest developments:

My latest email to Mr Lui of Option JDM-

Hello. I emailed you onc ebefore about the Mugen lip for the USDM
88-91 front end. I recieved an email back saying the manufacturer had stopped
producing them. I was shown this site/lip through a link on http://www.honda-tech.
com. I'm sure you have all heard of it. You should really check out the
thread. It is 10 pages long, and filled with posts by people wanting to buy
this lip. There are also people who are skeptical, saying they had been told
by your operators is was just a 92-95 Mugen lip that you had modified to fit
EF's, and then sold saying they were made specifically for our chassis. There
are also others saying they have recieved responses in regards to the lip
explaining that the request was down, and only 5 people had emailed wanting the
lips, and that if you got at least 50 emails you would put the lip back into
production. Currently, I am just searching for some answers. If either of
these theories is correct, please inform me so I can let others know. If there
is also any way to get a true USDM 88-91 front lip from you guys, rather it be
this one, or something new, please also let me know. I know many people whom
are very interested.

Thank you, and please send some answers.

Joshua Davis a.k.a. NoReverse on https://honda-tech.com and http://www.dragva.com

And the latest email I've gotten in response-

Hey Joshua,

Hope these answer your questions:

1)the original lips were indeed 92-95 lips modified by our fabricator for the
crx chassis. unfortunately they were taking too much of our time up (3-4 hours
a lip). the only reason why it was made in the first place was for our local
guys wanting a crx lip, so we made some. we have strong committments with Omni
Power Usa as their Canadian Distributor and feel taking time up to make a
certain lip would counter our committment originally to them. Our focuses now
are pushing the Omni Power brand in Canada, dealing with our dealer network and
our immediate customers(web and store).

2)Presently we have had about 15-20 confirmed emails on requests for the lips.
It is true that our sales representatives have been asking for people to email
us if they would be seriously interested in purchasing the lips. The reason why
we are still asking for emails, if we can get enough requests we can send for a
mold to mass manufacture them. Keep in mind that the tooling and mold are very
costly and producing them at a low number would be very expensive at a loss to
us. Therefore, as the volume increases, the cost to produce them will decrease
as well too. If we can get demand high enough the lip can be produced.

We appologize for any confusion and miscommunication caused by this matter. If
have any further questions feel free to send me back an email. If you want,
post the reponse that i have given you on honda-tech.

Regards,
Baldwin Lui

I am going to be posting this on numerous boards, hoping to get something going in hopes of people emailing them to request a lip. Hopefully, if the word gets around, they will live up to their words and create a mold for a front lip that will be TRUELY for the 88-91 USDM chassis.

I've posted this on the four forums I currently visit. Hopefully it will help some, however, two of the forums are small, and the other is a large mix of cars, very few EF'ers.

I don't understand all the hype about a (fugly) front lip that was just heated and bent from an EG?! If you like them that much, get a heat gun and do it! A few people on here have already done it, its no big deal.

And getting a mould made really isn't that expensive. (depending on who you know I guess) For quite a while I wanted to get fiberglass Mugen lips made for our EFs.. I had the lip, I had the guy to do it, but I lost interest in the project because I don't like the way the Mugen lip looks on EFs and with fiberglass you set yourself up for a lot of people being pissed about fitment and breakage.

IF you want to do it, be proactive about it and go out and get something done. If you think the ones in that thread were good, go make one yourself, they're dirt cheap and I doubt its that much work.

Anyway, just my two cents on the topic.

I realize its not hard at all to do. I've help a friend of mine do it with a "Type R" style lip. I would much rather have someone create a lip made truely for the car than to continue doing things this way. Who knows, if you can get one company to do it, who says others wouldn't follow suit and mold new styles?
