non-synthetic oil's correct? cause as far as i know synthetic oil run like water on turbo cars which is back for the turbo and can eventually cause it to seize up but it's just what i've herd not what i know might be different for mobile 1

I use full-synthetic oil, but I'm thinking about changing to a synthetic blend.

I don't understand why synthetic oil would hurt a turbo application? I use it because it can run hotter than conventional oil without breaking down. I have read in a few different books that only synthetic oil should be used in turbo applications because it is more resistant to coking.

How would synthetic cause your turbo to seize?

I was told to use 10w40 for my engine with forged pistons. Mobil no longer sells the regular 15w50, which was an excellent oil. Now it's a different formula sold under their "extended performance" line. They do make a 10w40 EP, but I haven't found it anywhere. If you happen to have a Pep Boys near you, you might want to see if they still have any MADD coupon calendars for sale. They're $1 each, but inside there is a coupon for buy 3, get 3 free Mobil 1 (I think that's the amount), but anyway I bought a stack of calendars a while ago. Hopefully they'll start selling the 10w40 EP.

Mobil 1 10w30

Synthetic oils have superior high temperature oxidation resistance, high film strength, very low tendency to form deposits, stable viscosity base, and low temperature flow characteristics and besides all that is a better lube than dino oil. In fact thats why some don't advise use in break in....too slick!

Mobil 1 doesn't use viscosity improvers (polymers) in their 5W-30, and I would assume the new 10W-30.
