Default Accord Track Car

Hey everyone, I'm a noob on this forum so I don't know if this questions has been posted before. I currently have a Honda Accord which I plan on fixin up for the track. Has anyone raced an Accord on the tracks? If so, any mod advice? I'm really debatin on an engine swap but still wondering if I can get away with the current motor (f22) and put a turbo. Any advice?

I did some HPDEs with my turbo accord, reliability was not an issue as much as understeer was. Keep the boost at a decent level, have a good cooling system and you will be fine.

Honestly, an H22 is probably going to be the best option, you get a higher rev range, which is oh so nice on the circuits

there have been quite a few accord track cars...however most of them have been seriously modified...quite a few have done real well in various different competitions...

Urbanlegend21 tracks his car on a regular basis and he has done a lot to show people what an accord can do. I believe he got the hard charger award last year at a race and that is not an easy thing to do.

i would say suspension work first, my accord understeers like a bitch...and if u have the money, get the H22, all the accord track cars i've seen uses the H22...like mentioned before, higher rev range, and i think a turbo's F22 wudnt be to great on a track, since all the ones i've seen so far(BUT NOT LIMITED TOO im sure there r other set ups out there) full boost doesnt kik in til about 3-4K...and when it does, u risk breaking the tires loose and thats not good on the track especially with a FWD...but before u start moding find out if the race u wunna enter has any restrictions on mods and stuff....im personally planning to race in SCCA showroom stock class when i find the money too, and i choose showroom stock becuase i cant afford to do any major work on my car and be competitive so im just getting into it for some race expericance and mainly just for fun, lets hope i dunt crash my car on the first race, first lap, first corner...haha

Yes, I drive a lightly modified Accord as a race car

Understeer is just always an issue in a race car

in my opinion the first thing I would work on would be the driver

Could you tell us your mods and where you race. I have a 93 Accord with a H22a and I have a fairly good setup modded almost everything except the bottom end. I want to try it on a track not just a freakin quater mile.

The very first thing that I would do is to determine want class you want to compete in. Certain classes will not permit certain modification to the car. Once you determine what class you are going to compete in you can mod you car according.

I haven't done absolutly nothing...yet. I'm still researching every possibilities. The most concern I have is smog. Still sort of a daily. Gas is too damn expensive here to keep driving my truck. The tracks closest to me is Fontana (CA Speedway), Willow springs, and a good 2 hours away from button willow.
