Default Went drag racing today...new best times.....

So Yoda and I made the 100 mile treck out to Sacramento Raceway....my car was stripped. I borrowed Chris's test pipe, and I was using 2 year old Nitto NT-555R(100+ runs on them). As you can see I improved on all of my runs, with the exception of my last 2 runs...one of them I sat at the start for 15 minutes waiting for a car to be towed off the track with a busted drive shaft, and the other one my exhaust came loose(long story).

Overall I would much rather be autocrossing than drag racing

hmm i've been meaning to goto a sat. test/tune. is it worth the extra $$? ie, did you arrive on time? you only got 7 runs total? was it packed? must've been a nice cool day to drag.

Frank...I just needed something to take the edge off...I needed to legally drive fast, semi-inexpensively. We arrived at 9:30, went to tech at 10:30...finished at 2:45. There were a few delays due to cars exploding, and being broken on the track...damn domestics, they're always breaking stuff. It was a pretty warm day, and I had a problem with high intake temperatures all day...intake temp was around 48-52C according to the PowerFC, even after a run I only lost a couple of degrees...next time I'll have to bring some ice out with me.

hmmm... how about an experiment with the hondata IM gasket? Supposed to reduce intake temps and prevent heat from the head transferring back to the IM... Would be nice to compare since you have the power fc to check readings.

need to take the edge off? come to thunderhill next weekend. although, the go fast crack pipe tends to be overwhemlingly addicting.

Come Sat. $300. 3 hours of track time minimum. Most likely 6+ hours if you can handle it. Bring extra tires and pads... hahaha.

Frank....I wish, I can afford $40 for some drag racing, $300 + expenses is a little bit more than I can afford at the moment damn bills

Wow...at that kinda price, I dont think I'll ever get to be a Roadracer...

$300 Track-Time
$50 Pads
$250-300 Set of Azenis
$50 Food\Drinks\Misc...

Nice way to spend 700 bux I bet it's a blast though...someday...

depends on the event but,

- in this paticular event breakfast/lunch and snacks/drinks are provided all day
- good track pads about about $120, but it will last you atleast 7-10 track days, unless you get a lot of track hours in a given day.
- same as a set of tires, a good set will last you 7-10 track days EASILY, unless you're on a tight course like Street of WIllows which will be extra hard on the tires.
- hotel, find some buddies to crash with, it's not that expensive.

Nice times on the 555's buddy
Those were the best times I ever had with the tires...I didn't think that the tires had it in them to get a 60ft time of 2.00.

Frank - I am working on the getting out to a track...just have to change a few things

If you are talking about the changes I think you're talking about, "few" is a huge understatement!

Yep, that's what I'm talking about, I have a way of understating things sometimes.

More in the future, or less that is.

AMEN to that! Finally...i got my Si into the 15's. Slow to most of you ITR guys, but for me, i was happy. Borrowed GSRgrrl's 96 GS-R wheels with the stock Michelin tires.

Went from a 16.102 to a 15.743. Reac times went froma 1.242 to a personal best 0.715.

I found out two of my problems from last year.
1. Didn't want to beat up my RE730's on the strip. Rather do that on the track/auto-x.
2. Reaction times. Finally....i'm not sleeping at the tree.

Need to do it again soon.

How about Austin, GSRgrrl, ThePunk, Bob#497 & and I all go together! hehehe....

Maybe its the tires .... but I would have expected 13.5's with those mods .... especially with 2.0 60's, and 70 ft. elevation. Hmmmm ........

did you rest at all or did you pretty much lined up and waited to run? 7 runs isn't exactly a lot for $40... sheesh that's freaking $5.7 per run, which is 41 cents persecond which is 24.49/min and 1469/hr.

i guess you are good at math. Well, 100 miles, 1.5 tanks of gas, a bit of food, & $40 may or may not have been worth it. I went because I didn't run in a long time.

ON another note, i got lined up with Austin, and that I didn't like that. Made me a bit nervous to say the least. And, the i didn't have enough time to set. And well, i got DESTROYED, but that was to be expected.

Most likely is...though we tuned the car for a flat torque curve vs high end horsepower and I'm a little heavy set, now if you had a little guy driving the car it would have some better times. Also please note the extremely high intake air temperatures.
