Is this normal for Type-R????
Hey guys. Well I just got my type-r but i wanna ask u guys some questions if you dont mind. My type-R is really load stock. And also its a very bumpy ride ,not too bumpy but bumpy. Also what do you guys recommend for me to take care of my car. Thanks. Oh yeah it's an PYellow Type -R 2000 #360
Welcom.
The ITR is loud stock. It is missing a layer of sound dampening material, which was deleted to save weight. And the stock ride is suposed to be stiff. Stiff ride = better handling. If you don't like the loud stiff ride, maybe you should buy a cadillac, I hear those are nice.

Ummm....Hi...what does really load stock mean? Yes the ride is bumpy but shouldn't be too choppy, certainly stiffer than any other stock car you have been in. What exactly do you want to take care of? Way too broad a question
And too bad you didn't find a white one... They handle much better...
sorry guys i meant loud stock...shiez i cant spell. when i asked about maintaining the car i meant just overall. such as the engine, exterior, and also the seats. man, i feel like i dont even wanna sit in the damn seats cause i dont wanna wear it out. maybe its just a phase that i go through all my cars when i first get them.
You can baby the exterior and interior all you want, but make sure you beat the crap out of that engine. After awhile, the loudness in your car will be music to your ears. Have you redline yet through 1-2-3?

Don't worry too much about the seats... They look like they damage or wear easily, but the material is very tough and easy to clean. If your car is stock, the only noise you should hear ( loud one anyway ) is the intake, and if everything is still in place down there, it shouldn't be such a big deal... Maybe the prior owner has removed the resonator from under the fender...
And just keep the car clean and well serviced as if it was your mom's BWM M3..
Drive the car and enjoy it! The seats do get worn out pretty easily if u don't take care of it. Heck i have a few runs on my driver seat. As for a bumpy ride.. try going over the yolo causeway ( between sacramento and davis ).. it feels like not stop bouncing for 3 miles.. heh

Yup. It ain't your Grandmother's Accord.
Hint 1. NEVER put your address, beyond city, on the Internet. Thieves will beat a path to your door in attempts to steal it. Look at hood locks, alarm system, Clubs (various types, steering, Brake pedal, etc) and the like.
Hint 2. Chrome plated 9 mm should be sufficient. Larger in bad neighborhoods
Hint 3. Chain the car down in a locked garage.
SOme of the above was a joke. Not sure which part though.
Anyway,
The car is slightly noisy stock and can get worse with the wrong mods. Coating the bottom of the car with thick black rustproofing under the console area. Dynamat can be placed strategically also inside the car under the carpeting as can additional carpet padding.
As to the ride, it would be difficult to make it softer and would destroy the intent of the car. Take a look at the coils in the suspension. I believe that the originals are black and if they were replaced by the first owner, they will be a different color. Same for shocks. Thes would make the ride rougher.
Also, how many miles on your R? If very low mileage, the shocks may not have loosened up yet.
In the meantime, have fun with the new Go-Kart.
