Default flywheel ???

Hey guys, my names Kris. I am doing a 5spd swap on my 5th gen accord. I just purchased a exedy stage on clutch. I am now looking for a good flywheel to match up with it. Should I go with a name brand or cheapest priced? Also what wieght should I look for?( I have just basic bolt ons).
I have found a few here,

ACT Street Lite or Pro Lite. Either of them is one piece flywheel which is good . Don't get Clutchmasters flywheel because it is 2 pieces flywheel (outer gear ring attached by 3 screws). I installed it in my car for less than 1000 miles, then the gear ring separated . Suck ***!

for a fraction of the price of aftermarket flywheels ($70-80) you can actually have your stock flywheel shaved and drilled to make it lighter...i was gonna do this once upon a time, but then just gave up after i had already bolted up the tranny and didn't want to mess with it...you can go down to around 10 lbs on the stock flywheel i believe without issue, however i wouldn't go lower than 12-13 lbs for a street application...

wont this severly compromise the integrity of the fly? and this is also risky business, no? if you take too much off in the wrong place, the thing could come apart after only a few thousand miles? nick h, do you personally know anyone whos done this w/o issue?

I think Pro Lite is the lightest one. Under 10 lbs.

Did u actually weight it? I had Clutchmasters Flywheel before, I heard it is identical with Fidanza because they are from same maker. Anyway, I called Clutchmasters tech and they told me my flywheel is 8.8 lbs, but when I weighted it using my electronic scale, it turned out to be lil bit more than 10lbs.

Nice to hear. I wouldn't go with 2 pieces flywheel again since I had bad experience with it. I will go with 1 piece design like ACT. I heard chromoly steel flywheel is better than aluminum flywheel.

i know this is off subject, but wussup with manufacturers claims not matching up to real world test(not all products, just sum, but maybe we just measure it wrong)..reading bout u guys weighing ur flywheels and getting dif numbers reminded me of the time i measured sum rims and it was suppose to be 7inch wide(stamped ryte there on the wheel too) but it came out to be sumthing like 5.5 or 6 cant remember...*shrugs* maybe im measuring it wrong?

It is not. Ring gears is held to the flywheel by 3 screws. That is 2 pieces, same design as Clutchmasters. Check to see again. Next time if you 're not sure about something, do some research first and don't just make it up and turn it into a fact. Mean what you say. Read its description:

Fidanza aluminum flywheels are made from the highest quality 6061 T6 aluminum. The material is fantastic for strength, heat dissipation and of course reduction in weight. The friction surface in these Fidanza flyweels is an incredibly strong 1050 steel. The plates are milled to meet Fidanza’s high specifications.

A Fidanza flywheel can mate with any type of clutch material, including organic, kevlar, ceramic, metallic and sintered iron. Fidanza attaches the friction surface with military grade aerospace fasteners. The ring gears are also made from 1050 steel and are heat treated for durability. The gears are heated then pressed on and secured with grade 8 button screws. Fidanza was the first to utilize a stepped dowel system in most of their flywheel applications. This doweling method ensures that once the pressure plate is installed the dowels cannot be removed because they become locked into place.

Fidanza designs and builds flywheels with extreme precision. They give tuners, racers and builders the high performance and unmatched power they’re seeking
