Default Wheel paint from DupliColor vs Rustoleum

I've seen on this site ppl who've used DupliColor's wheel paint and Rustoleum's paint. I've read good things about Rustoleum but never read any comparison's on the two.

I'd appreciate any help I can get on comparison's between the two types of paints. Which will last longer? Which lasted longer from experience. Which lasted longer according to the type of methods you used. Which is a better quality? Etc.

Pics would be appreciated as well.

i'll vouch for duplicolor. I've painted two sets of wheels and they came out really nice. stuck on the wheel nice and didnt chip with daily driving. never used the other brand yet. From researching diy wheel painting, duplicolor gets much props from lots of people from many forums.

Another for Dupllicolor. Hell, I even used it to DIY my headlights, paint my intake arm, paint my exhaust manifold heat shield, and other crap.

Thx, fella's. I'll prolly try DupliColor's wheel paint then. What methods did you guys use to paint the wheels? Prepping/cleaning, layers of paint/clear, etc.

X2..I've used duplicolor on several sets of wheels and NEVER had any issues. Prep them and use clear coat to help them look and stay nice.

Okay, I went with DupliColor.
1 can paint per 2 x wheels.
1 can clear per 4 x wheels.

I didn't use that Rust Cap BTW...

Used Aircraft Cleaner to clean the wheels. I didnt sand it either...

Used Vaseline for some certain areas, lol...

First layer...

Second layer...

Third layer...

Fourth layer with 4 moderate lalyers of clear coat...

I still have Vaseline on the edeges of the rim. I'm going to wait another day for the paint to dry. Then after I get the brakes hot to transfer the heat over to the rim then cool off, I'm going to clean the car and the wheels. On the first 2 rims, my opened the door and this dust from outside blue onto the rims. Then on next 2 rims, she did the same thing. WTF?!...

IMHO, I'm not too fond of them.

I'll take some after I get my chance to wash the car and clean up the wheels/tires.

Actually, my buddy killed one of the rims. The setup used to be on his EK and one of his front brake lines was loose. So brake fluid got all over that rim. So, I was forced to just remove the paint on all the rims.

More pics please with side profile!

Yeah, I just masked the tires off. I didn't really care too much because I'll be getting different wheels with a totally diff' color scheme once I get my car repainted another color.

Thx on the comments, fella's.

I've seen one guy use the gun metal from DupliColor on one of his IT-R rims and compared it right next to his original gun metal IT-R rim. Very similar. Let me see if I can find it... here it is. His H-T username is: R134...

One more vote for the Duplicolor. I wish I had used some clearcoat, and I also wish that I washed them more often. When they're clean they look great.

Which color did you use from DupliColor? Also, how long have they been holding up? Chips or anything happen to them yet?

I did bronze.

Old pics, but they are in this thread towards the bottom of the third page:

I did these in October and they've held up great. I didn't even prep them all that well and they haven't chipped or faded even without any clearcoat and the daily abuse they take.

Nice! I like how dark yours turned out. I hate how mine look too light for my taste.

I put Vaseline on it. I didn't clean it all off yet tho. I removed the Vaseline from the edges today. I'm gonna mask the outter lip and touch up the edge of the paint with paint. When that's done I'm gonna remove the masking and clear coat the outter edge of the paint and the bare metal lip.

Also, it sucked that the weight for that front-left rim was on the outside. On the other 3 rims, the weights were on the inside. BAH!
