Dead battery
dont really post much, more of a lurker. used to hang around here a lot when i had my old car, but anyways, i bought a bike about a month or two ago, and last week i came in from a short ride and ran inside to grab something, needless to say one thing led to another and i forgot i left my keys in the bike. the bike was off, but i left the keys in the on position and now my battery is dead. so before i go out there and **** up the battery i was hoping you guys could lend some advice. i was advised to be very careful if using a car battery to jump it, as the bike battery could explode but i talked to another guy here on campus and he said hes done it before and it worked fine. ive also done a little searching on here and thought about spending the 30$ to get a battery tender off ebay, but their meant to hold a charge as opposed to charging the battery. any advice on how to get my baby back on the road asap would be greatly appreciated!
Have you tried push starting it?
Push your bike on top of a hill and dump the clutch in first or second and it should start.. ride it for a while and let the battery charge via the generator on your bike.
I don't know if this will work as far as getting it fully charged but if it doesnt at least you know you'll have to get a new battery.

I've jumped off of a car battery when in a pinch. It's not the most comforting thing to do but it can be done. Just make sure you leave the car off! Otherwise you will not like the results.
If possible my first choice would be to buy a trickle charger ($25-$45) @ Advance Auto.
