Default Opinions on tires......

What is a good tire for street and tracking..... I want a good wear but stickiness as well. ( does'nt have to hold like the azenis does) I mostly push it hard through the twisties on a mountain known for its curves where I live.... 316 of them to be exact. 6.8 miles.

Drifters welcome.....

Moreless I guess I meant and should have said, What kind of tires do you all run as an everyday tire that has good grip?

I'm ready to move on from the stock tires

On stock rims there is no better street tire then the RE010s. Perfect match.
Unless your going to run Rcomps

Of those Ken listed, my favorite is the S-03. best dry and wet weather street tire I've used (there are better for dry, but not for both that I've used anyways). I run ES100's now and they are decent, but not anywhere near the S-03's. I also got GREAT life out of S-03's, about 40,000 miles. I think I'll get about the same out of the ES100's.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is another tire I've heard good things about that isn't in Ken's list, but it's available only in 195-50-15 which some people have concerns on (I don't, I've run 195-50's with no problems, but never a goodyear in that size, just bridgestones).

If you've got the money, I'd get RE010's or S03's. If not, 195/50 S03's wouldn't be a bad choice, if you don't mind the offset odo and speedo readings.

I've had RE730's and I think they're much better than ES100's(currently on them in 195/55). If it came down to those two tires, I'd go with Bridgestone. Much stiffer sidewalls and same wet traction.

Does anybody have experience, yet, w/the new RT615?

The ITR needs new street tyres. Even though I never drive it. Still trying to figure out why I need new tyres when I never drive it. Damn. Well, that's another story.

Anyway...does anybody have experience w/the Azenis RT615, yet? They're more expensive, but it looks like they might've learned a few lessons about compounds and tread pattersn, judging from what Falken says.

I think I'll buy some kind of Falken, but can't decide between the new RT615 summer only or the Ziex 512, with which I've had great good luck on my daily driver EP3.

I ordered some 615s today since I couldnt find the Hankook Z212 or old Azenis anywhere. Ill have some feedback before long.

From what Ive seen so far, they grip about like the older ones but unfortuntately do not like heat just like the old ones too. Not really a concern for a street tire, though. I have heard several comments they are much better in the rain also.

A couple of the guys in my SCCA region are trying the 615's and seem to like them.

To the poster, all this talk about driving hard and I never see you at an autocross.

I'm pretty convinced Hankook has their heads up their asses. Frisby Tire has been having fits with them too.

Anyhow, I've got them in 205/45/R16... no review yet.
