Default No Brake Lights

99 LX V-6 Accord
125k miles
need to use shift lock release to get out of park.
No brake lights - none - cruise worked --- then did not.
checked fuses with ohm meter - ok
checked bulbs " " " - ok
ALL other light functions Work
REPLACED switch by brake pedal - STILL NO BRAKE LIGHTS
(what are the odds that only the brakes lights power supply wire has 'shorted'??!!!!)

HELP!! Any other switches/suggestions?

THANKS!!!

well, seems like youve covered every angle that i wouldve ever thought of! if youre concerned with the power source, get another source (ie. 12vdc cig lighter socket, when your keys are in) and route a direct power source to the "hot" end of the bulb. if the circuit completes, then youve narrowed down your problem to the pre-resistance side of the circuit.

what puzzles me is why you have to use the shift lock release to get it out of park. this would lead me to believe that some sensor/switch thats related to the brake pedal is not working. i dont know anything on this matter though, sorry about that.. but let us know how that turns out, and btw welcome to h-t!

it is not a short if it were it would blow the fuse ,,,,,,,boy it sure sounds like a brake switch you chked all the fuses for the brake system right??and you got a factory brake switch and it plugged in ok , mmmmm let me chk something out and will post it tomorrow ,,,,you know you can get car out of park by raising the lid on the shifter by the lever and put your key in the slot to release the shifter interlock ...

that made me confused. anyways it sounds like a fuse to me but since you already covered that then i dunno what to recommend. but the same thing happened to me when my brake light fuse blew.

No brake lights & shift lock doesn't release. That's pretty obviously the brake switch at the pedal.

New switch didn't help, & fuses are good. What's left but the wires between those components? Check out the wiring from the brake-pedal switch to the shift-interlock solenoid. Maybe something's disconnected in the console? I don't remember whether there's any relays in that system??

yo hondahelper try 1 thing for me ,,,jump the wires at the brake switch so you bypass the switch just in case you got a bad new switch unlikely but i have seen new parts fail from time to time especially electrical parts ,just make sure you jump the right wires ,,and it was a factory brake switch you installed???

there is a brake lite failure sensor power has to go through it before it goes to bulbs if it is faulty brake lites will not work ..
lets recap if underhood fuse box fuse # 47 20 amps and lft under dash fuse box fuse # 9 7.5 amps are good, jump wires at brake switch white yellow/ white black....if still no lites sensor clould be faulty, at sensor jump white/black to green if lites come on sensor no good.. sensor located left side of trunk where the wires for bulbs plug in also chk the ground for the sensor it is located on left side of trunk hope that will help

Had the 'wherewithall' to go only so far - had to give up & go to dealer; had to replace fuse BOX on Driver's side; said short inside--- that affected brake lights/cruise only. Thanks for help anyway!
