Default tire size question

i am currently running 205/45/16 and one of my tires got a nail in it and it can't be repaired. i checked a lot of used tire places and they dont have the size i need. are there any other size tires that i can use that won't mess up my driving or handling or anything like that? any help is appreciated, thx

I've had 2 screws/nails in my 17's.....i took that tire/rim to my local good year (even though it was a nitto tire), and they removed the screw and patched the tire for $25...... Keep calling your local tire/wheel shops and tell them whats wrong.

thx for replying. the first thing i did was ask if they can repair it, but they said that it was to close to the outside wall and it was against there policy to repair it because of that.

bump for more help.

Your tire dealer is correct...only punctures/damage that is in the tread area can be repaired. A tire that is repaired after damage in the sidewall will be compromised structurally...meaning it could fail again in the future.

As for an alternate size, I *edit* would not */edit* recommend having two different sized tires on the same axle. Sure, you could probably find a size that is similar in diameter (215/40R16 perhaps)...but why?? There's no reason for it, keep calling around to find a 205/45R16 to replace your damaged one, or give Chris from Discount Tire a call and see if he can help you out.

Let me know if you need advice about what tire(s) to buy...hope this helps.

Matt
