Default Pics from Super GT (JGTC) at Fuji Speedway

It is Golden Week in Japan, which means this week is filled with national holidays. I went to the Super GT round two qualifying day at Fuji Speedway on Tuesday. The circuit was recently rennovated, and the rumor is Toyota would like to bring the Japanese F1 GP to Fuji after the current contract with F1 & Suzuka. Suzuka is a short track compared to Suzuka and TRM, but it has a really long straight. Here are some pics, I hope you enjoy.

I thought Fuji was redesigned specifically for F1?

You can drive the new layout in GT4. I hate it.

The little Toyota Vitz race cars were pretty much showroom stock, minus the interior. The cars had all of the FIA (JAF) safety requirements. They were all running the stock mufflers, and were pretty quite. Most of the Vitz's were driven to the track. I wonder if my wife will let me race our Vitz. The Vitz fields were 40+ cars.

Yep, no braking distance markers, and a sea of paved runoff, like the world's largest Walmart parking lot. Not much flow compared to the old one.

I agree .... I don't like it on GT4. The paved runoff is annoying and a lot of the turns seem to be long, sweeping, decreasing radius. I prefer the 90's setup much more.

Heh. When I was playing that track, I found myself wondering if the real track actually looked like that or if the game developers just ran out of time to finish it. It definitely gets the from me. I agree that the 90's version is much better.

Nice photos. The GT4 track is very tough, and hard to get a good "flow" going. Makes it more interesting/frustrating. Unfrotunatly the computer drives it poorly too. Once get the hang of it, the computer can't keep up at all...

There were March and Vitz races. They ran separately, but the March cup rules seemed to allow some modifications. Which was evident by the sound of the aftermarket mufflers.

Suzuka being one of the finest tracks in the world, I sincerely hope that this does not happen. (but when money, big corporations, and politics get involved, there is no limit to the stupidity of the outcome)

Yes, in GT300, but unfortunately they were lacking pace for the weekend.

IMO they should re-release one when the C6.R comes out, that thing is a BAMF, but it would probably be run in gt300
