Default .: Tire Engineer here to answer your questions :.

What's up everyone...my name is Matt. I'm a Honda owner and enthusiast who just happens to be an engineer for Dunlop. In addition to engineering, I also help out our event marketing group on the side...working in our booth for several of the Hot Import Nights shows.

I wanted to make myself available to everyone in this new forum. My goal is to answer any technical question you have about tires in general. They do not have to be Dunlop specific. Tires are tricky...I may not know all the answers but I work in a building full of engineers so I can promise I'll find the answer for you.

I spoke with Chris from Discount Tire about my role in this forum. I want to make it clear that I am NOT here to try and sell everyone Dunlop tires...that's his job. My role here is to field your questions, give you my advice and/or opinions (when asked) and be technical resource for everyone.

Hopefully I can be of help to everyone in the forum...if you have a question feel free to ask!

Thanks,

Matt

Is dunlop planning on releasing a tire to compete with the azenis, hankook rs-2, kumho mx any time soon?

I know you make the direzza dj01 or whatever it is called or the fm901 already.

Welcome Matt!
Please jump in when you see anyone floundering for the right answer! We need a guru or 3 or 4 in this forum.

I actually just put my last two 16" SP Sport W-10's on my 2K1 Civic that I had hoarded from a couple of years ago when that idiot company CarParts.com was selling them for $51 each

According to the Tire & Rim Association handbook, the widest "approved" tire you can put on a 15"x6" rim is a 225/50R15.

However, keep in mind that this size is about 0.5" larger in overall diameter compared to a 195/55R15 or a 205/50R15. So the tire will be a little taller and could rub the fenderliner on a lowered car.

Let me know if I haven't answered your question!
